HELP! I hate computers!

Postby trickyricky » Aug 14th, '07, 16:15

Well, i only really hate them when they refuse to work properly. I have what seems to me like a really big problem with my laptop and was wandering if anybody can help me at all.

Everytime i turn my laptop on, theres a black screen with a message that a system file is missing or corrupt. It says that if i put in my reload cd and press 'r' that i can fix it. But when i put the CD in it doesnt read it. I've tried altering the boot sequence in the BIOS thing (technical terms aren't my strong point) and it doesnt change anything. Am I doing something wrong?

Preferably i want to completely reload Windows XP to get it back to factory default settings, but it seems like my Cd's are broken and wont let me. Is there another place I can get these Reload CD's?

Thanks for any help!

what exactly is the message about the file missing or corrupt?

Is it the Master Boot Record?

If it's a very thin one, it looks like the screen's on the way out. Repair shop, I reckon.

It says that the corrupt or missing file is:

\windows\system32\config\system

I have tried both reload CD's, the product recovery disk (floppy disk), and the Driver CD that i got with the laptop, and none of them work in the slightest.

If the Bios settings are coming up i.e. pressing esc or an f key then I feel it's a soft wear fault.

When to laptop starts up does it give you the recover option or just the bios option?

If it does not give the recover option and your cd rom does not recognise the cd, try removing all cables, remove Battery fro a few minutes.

If you have a pc check to see if the discs load on that.

If you get really stuck pm me I’ll give you my number.

Somtimes changing the resoultion settings gets rid of lines. Also go the the bios settings on startup if the line there?

Is that when only when it's pluged into the mains or all the time?

all the time...be it wireless, plugged in, full battery, half battery - and it never recognises any form of cd any more

doesn't work, tried that. it goes away momentarily if i wiggle the screen a bit though. i might have to watch things on the x-box instead of on here.

Could be a loose connetion around the cd rom area, not a big job to fix. Or could be that somthing has got inside the drive (Only needs to be small) Tilt from left to right see if you hear anything, Oh or try cleaning the Battrie terminals that may help.

Maybe not a new screen needed just stripping down and finding there the Pressure is comming from thats causing the line. Realignment may do it.
