The Magician's Year

Postby Mandrake » Apr 7th, '04, 16:09

I've just been looking at allmagic.com and in particular their calendar of the year in terms of promoting yourself as a working magician - http://www.allmagic.com/magicshow/comme ... eting.html

OK, some of the events and holidays are different to ours but perhaps this is something which we could think about in terms of using the same kind of approach in the UK. I'm sure there are equivalents to most of the US occasions but the ones I really like are:

National Cookie Month - easy peasy just make the cookies disappear by eating them!
Self Promotion Month - isn't that what this is all about?
Vegetarian Month - no pulling rabbits from hats then?
National Baby Safety Month - or pulling babies from hats either?
Children's Good Manners Month - yeah, right! If most of the kids I've encountered this week could be changed to being good mannered that would really be magic!
National Childhood Injury Prevention Week - Hmmm, some of those in the above category came close to a smack
National School Success Month - swots or wot?!

Anyway, how would Talkmagic members view the year and the seasons in terms of promoting magic and their magic activities?
