Yes and no. The methods are often quite simple but it's all in the presentation so you will have to put in some time on working on your presentational skills.

You'll find that mental magic is possibly the most difficult area of magic to pull off convincingly, as it's got a great deal to do with confidence and presentation—moreso than regular sleight of hand magic.

Start small.

a cheap and easy way to found out if its for you, buy Karl Fulve's mental magic book...and have a go after a month or so of practising...see how you feel and what reactions you get...

go from there...there's stickys all over the shop here on the subject...

Mental magic is hard to perform but with practise it can be pulled off if you would like to know more about it i would reccomend buying Derren Brown's book Trick Of The Mind.

This is an absolutely sound piece of advice. The book is very reasonably priced and has a whole range of mentalism effects, none of which are hard to do. But as everyone else has said, it isn't the difficulty of mentalism effects from a technical point of view that makes them difficult to perform, it is the perfomance itself that makes the effect.

Dabble into a few tricks that you can get your hands on, I'm sure by using google you will be able to find some light mentalism to get you started.

As mentioned before, if you think you are willing for a bit more, go for Karl Fulve's mental magic book, and see if it's the right thing for you.

If you love it and you know you are going to carry on with it, buy '13 Steps to Mentalism' by Corinda, it is a great mentalism book. :D
