Cold Reading.

As stated above, it is truly impromptu, and can add real depth to any performance.

Sorry I didn't write a few words Rob when I voted but I will now. I chose cold reading because since I have brought it I haven't stopped reading it although it is not strictly magic it can be incorporated into a mentalists performance plus this is one of the best and most indeph books I have ever brought on any subject. Also you don't only learn cold reading which is complpetely impromptu from this book but you also learn the psychology on why it works which alot of magicians don't look into when performing magic when they should so it should get you to start thinking on why magic works aswell, so as you can see it has been a very inspiring book for me.

Thanks for that Lindz - even if it doesn't top the poll, I'm sure I'll be looking at this closely in the not-too-distant-future

Although I have kind of voted once (though not in the poll), you will not be disapointed with either full facts or absolute magic. Absolute magic would be my choice at of those you can vote for, but I'm not sure about the price. I was lucky enough to get mine a few years back. I've read it about three or four times now.

edit: Having said all that, I wouldn't sell my copy of absolute magic for even the steepest of prices quoted.

its not on the list and Im not suggesting it better than anything you listed, but Sleight of Mind is proving to be a fantastic read and I cant put the book down.

Oi! Behave, Oh Great Master of the CUPS!

You had your suggestion, which was Apololypse - no second chances allowed

The problem is that what is right for us, isn't necessarily right for Rob. First, he clearly wanted a trick. His vote for 'Screwed Deck' suggests that too!

There are some excellent suggestions on the list for more general stuff ('Mystery School' and 'Absolute Magic'). I personally would never recommend 'Full Facts' as a place to learn cold reading. It's a very good book on the subject, but I don't think it's structured to teach you how to do it.

I'm voting for 'Die-Cipher 2'. I think it's more versatile than 'Screwed Deck'.

I have looked up Die-Cyhper and actually ordered it.

it looks fantastic, and I have seen that at Alakazam it is only £17.99 the cheapest I have seen anywhere. It is called another name though :? The pic and blurb are EXACTLY the same though

I second that, great book and some very useful info in it.

Right chaps (and chappesses!)

The week's worth of voting is now up, and Absolute Magic is the winner - I shall be hopefully making my purchase today :D

I'd like to say a massive thanks to each and every one of you who both offered up suggestions, and cast your carefully-considered votes; HUGELY appreciated

As an aside...I'm also going to be buying Die-Cipher 2, as it's a wonderful-sounding runner-up
