You know the guy who does "Max Magiic" on Sky Three.
How awesome is he...watching his show was 1 of the first things to pique my interest in magic.
Any of you seen the trick when he pretends to be a camper from Germany and takes souvenirs and crushes them into his paper bag!!
It's pretty cool.

Well I am suprised that this post has been unaswered for so long so thought id jump in.

Yes the Max Magic's show is great, in pertucular Max is a very skill magi. His style I like, very exsentric. He features other magicans on the show, the german camper is one of these other guys. Also a guy who's character is from the Matrix which is a very interesting approch to street magic.

I have to admit that the other perfomers do let the show down a bit, may be I'm being pickey but they dont have Maxs charm. Max's tricks leave me scratching my head were as the others do not. His 'color-opathy' bit is nice.

I beleive this show is produced by the same production componey as Derren B shows.

All in all a great show with lot of hidden cam bits as well as staged routines for the camera(no camera tricks I must add)

Well i cant beleive you and I are the only people to see this show, I hope this post generates more dissusion.

I used to watch Max Magic though I haven't seen it recently.

I always enjoyed Max's tricks, some of his sleight of hand work was great to watch in those little clips he did between clips, or before the adverts.

The Matrix guy was OK, though trying to be a little too 'Street Cool' in his other work for my liking.

The bloke who usually played the old granny used to annoy me, but still he did some funny stuff.

I hope they do a new series, and more importantly that it gets on prime time TV.

We need a good prime time magic show, like Paul Daniels had back in the day. There's too many music/singing ones on.

I had hopes for Britains Got Talent and Let Me Entertain You to bring some magic to TV. Unfortunately the magic was poor, and in the end a singer won both series. Even on the American version, America's Got Talent, a singer won.

I agree, Max Somerset is indeed very skilled at what he does. He uses quite an unusal, yet seemingly very effective, method of perfoming magic. His characters help bring something new for the audience - instead of just some old magic trick they may have already seen before.

I think there are three magicians on that tv show. There's Max, the matrix guy, and the one who dresses as an old granny. Max is by far the most accomplished magician amongst them i think. Not many of them seem to have the same experience as Max.

I can recommend watching Max's 'random-ness' trick with Stephen Fry's precious watch (When Max starts smashing the draw string bags - one of which contains his watch - the expression on Stephen's face was priceless!) The decision regarding which numbered bag got smashed, was being determined by Stephen's random dice throwing. He was gutted that he might unwittingly be responsible for the destruction of his own watch! Whichever number was rolled - that was the bag which went under the hammer! Quality routine. Fair play to Max.

In fact, if anyone HAS seen that trick, and is aware of any similar methods. Could someone point me in the direction of where to find more info about it.

Many thanks. Peace all.

I watch Max Magic whenever it's on. Which is very rarely now unfortunately. Max Magig should be on terrestial prime time in my opinion. I like his Piano trick where they pick a song and he guesses it and plays it. Also where he changes the tax disc so its in date right in front of the traffic warden.

I don't get it, Sky-One always repeats Max Magic, why not record new episodes and they can have a better TV slot and get a bit more attention than repeats.

I am surpised that Max hasn't had his own series, I think he is a brilliant magician, especially in the way he presents his effects.
It almost makes magic a completely different art when it appears to be coming from someone who is not a magician at all (the characters that Max portrayed).

Brilliant stuff.

It's a great show, I have had the pleasure of seeing Max perform live at a comedy club in Soho, did one effect (milking someone's arm) but he made a whole routine out of it and was great with the specs.

Max Maven has an effect on 'Nothing' with 6 number grocery bags. 5 players throw a dice and get to keep whatever is in the bag (rubbish). The remaining bag he keeps and it contains his watch. I have used this effect in a modified form and I could use it to perform what you've described above ;)

I really like Max somerset. Unfortunatlely I don't have sky so i am missing out on max magic and undercover magic. Anyone know a link where i can find clips of these programs? I know there's a few on max's website (but some of them don't work for me) but there's nothing on youtube.
