I know this subject has been mulled over before (so apologies for another thread on it) but I have experimented with IT over the last year and want to move into using something practical and reliable.
I used the awful cheap Indian ITR's for practice (and they break so quickly and are a swine to repair) and want to move onto something that is reliable and easy to access.
Loops interest me, but I have heard mixed views on them and that they break easy and are rather expensive for what they are. I have also seen a better quality ITR for sale at Magicbox for £19.99. From the picture it looks similar to the cheapo Indian ones, does anyone have this and is it easy to repair/refill?

Sorry for starting a thread on this subject again, but what are the best IT/ITR's available in the UK, from the point of view of people that use them?

I don't really use IT that often but loops IMHO are really good and they have a very easy set up and don't get in the way before you need it, Yes they are quite expensive and has for breaking easy they do the first few times you use them but after a while you should get the hang of it and they won't break has often, If you did decide on loops you will be better off buying some normal IT and making the loops yourself which is alot cheaper, If you go on to NUMS Siege sells his own version of how to make loops from normal IT I think it's called S.T.E.L.T.H but that would be the cheapest option if loops are what your after.

IT and me simply don't get on. Bloody stuff. First of all, it's invisible. So how am I supposed to know where it is when I want it? Drives me mad, so I swore off it and have never looked back since - although I probably have a length of the stuff attached to the heel of my shoe with a glob of wax. Luckily it's invisible so neither me nor anyone else knows it's there.

Thanks for the advice. I may go for some Loops to see how I get on.
The Spider Pen is tempting, but expensive, possibly one for the future.

How far can Loops stretch to? Are they just decent for card rising, haunted, deck etc or good for many purposes?

Loops are wonderful but can be frustrating to begin with as has been pointed out. They're better for animation than levitation in my opinion, I don't perform any routines with them regularly but they're good for occassional random little bits of business like plucking a drinking straw from a glass without touching it or causing a fag packet to flip over by using 'static'.

Funnily enough as I mentioned it in another thread (chuckle) recently the LeClair Animator is fantastic for levitation. It's not a device as such, just a way of hooking up the IT but it's very versatile and surprisingly easy to wear on your person. I've worn it out several times when I've not intended to use it, just to see if it'd last a night of average pub jostling and it hasn't failed me yet. Sorry if that sounds cryptic but buy Jon LeClair's dvd Who's Afraid of IT and you'll see what I mean. Great purchase.

Freddie,

I tried numerous ITR's and virtually gave up with IT. Then I got loops :D

If you don't know if loops will be for you, PM Mark and ask him what I showed him on the last Leeds meet. They are brilliant.

I have to say, I ordered two packs of Loops and well, I'm very disappointed with them. The poorest quality IT I have ever seen.

Maybe it's the handling, but the instructions that come with them are pretty poor and apart from the two effects, are more like advertising bumpf which is pointeless when you've already bought the damn things.

I find them just two weak. I have used IT before and never had something as easily breakable as these. It claims you should practice with an elastic band, but they don't snap if you so much as touch them.

Maybe my opinion will change after a bit more use, but two of the five broke within half an hour of receiving them and I wasn't doing anything too extravagant with them. The Haunted Deck routine worked once but on the second time, with the same amount of pressure, it snapped.

Now, I don't mind practising to perfect something, but these are rather expensive if you get through them like this. If you received 15 for the price, then it might better value and the reel of elastic you can buy for £15 seems a much better proposition.

I do wonder about the reliability of these in performance, they just seem so weak. If something snaps when you levitate a £5 note then I have severe doubts about using the fork levitation included in the instructions.
