Le Paul Spread

Postby Blade Master » Dec 15th, '05, 14:52

I have never learn the Le Paul Spread. I just never felt the need for it since my basic spread worked fine. But now that I'm trying to learn this new spread I've hit a bump. I can make the initial bend in the deck, but as I pull the cards, they don't bubble up. What's wrong? 8)

can you spring cards?
i've never been taught a lepaul spread, but ive seen it and i do what i think is one using a method which is essentially the same as springing the cards

The LePaul spread is a bit of a strange story with me - I can't spring cards, could never get the 'shooting' part right, so I didn't expect to be able to get anything with the LP spread. However, although the spreads do come out a little messy, I definitely can do them.

EDIT: If you understood that 10 points to you ;).

The LePaul is an odd fish. For most flourishes you can at least see a progressive improvement. In the case of the LePaul, I found that it took a few hours of practise to get the method. It just clicks, after which you can work on making it look really flash.

My advice, is keep practising.

Oooooh it makes me so much better to know others cant do it. I used to practice it all the time but threw a hissy fit in the end and decided to admit defeat.
I agree that a basic fan will surfice

You should never do that  If you can't get something after a lot of time, leave it then go back.

IMO, this is the best thing to do, as you might fall into a habit of doing this and missing out on hundreds of great tricks!

I've got an hour to kill on the train tonight. I may give it another go but if there is a story on tonights news concerning train rage and a deck of cards being used to assault a helpless passenger then on your head be it.
 Ok maybe I'll wait til I have some alone time

I suggest you start with a small stack of cards. It is easier to put a certain amount of tension on them, than to curl a whole deck of cards - and Le pauls spread demands quite a lot of tension.
The main problem that I encounter is that my cards seem to be 'weakened' after one or two spreads, but I think that is due to the quality of my deck.

I've just recently been trying this after I saw it on the flouriush 101 section of Dan and Dave's Trilogy. I must say that it seems a very hard move but I seem to be making some progress.

Just learn to spread 1 card off the top of the deck until you get the feel and then build it up. Least you get to learn what the fingers should be doing.

good Luck

Bingo! That is exactly the way it was from me....I think I was literally one more attempt away from giving up because I was seeing nil progress and then it was like the dexterity fairy showed up and left me the ability to do it....
