Anyone use the Erdnase Shift?

Postby stevebo » Aug 24th, '07, 21:26

Hey guys and girls!

As the topic title says, does anyone use the Erdnase One Handed Shift? I've been practising it lately and I've heard stories of people being able to do it really rapidly. I think Jason England was one of the people?

I've found one trick by T.G. Murphy that uses the Erdnase Shift but that's about it...

mmmmm, I voted yes as I did get what I thought was quite good at it, played with ideas colour changes etc then left it and didn't/haven't do(ne) it for ages. (Quite literally years).

Just tried it , and can't do it for toffee! :( Grip pressures all wrong slow noisy total c**P!!!!

I feel some bible (Erdnase) study coming on :D

All the best,
John.

A 'No' vote from me.

I never found a use for it so never had the inspiration to master it. Lazy, I know. There's always other moves to suffice, you see.

And it's not one of those moves that I find particularly fun to practise, like false cuts. I Love false cuts. They're fun to do and I practise them loads even though I only ever use one or two.

Although there may not seem like there is a need for it, I'm pretty sure that most sleights created have a use for it. It may not seem obvious but I think magicians should try to learn as many sleights as possible. Not just for completion but because maybe in the near future, when the magician is creating effects, he/she finds a use for that particular sleight that he/she thought was useless!

Also, I've heard that some people can make the Erdnase shift look invisibile in full sight. :)
