Worth it? This is Magic VIP Membership? Vaporize

Postby oreo » Aug 26th, '07, 05:05

Hello there, first post as I am just getting into magic here and have been scouring the internet for tricks.

I found this site thisismagic, which I downloaded my first trick called Vaporize from them, it was only 5 dollars and it looked good on their video.

I was actually impressed with how easy it could be done and to "create" the gimmick. The best thing is that I could do this trick walking around and borrow a pen to do this effect. At work it is great.

My question now is, that they put on this special that you can get all their download tricks for 20 dollars, currently 10 tricks, some are OK, some are so so, but once you're in, you can get more for no cost.

Anyone else seen this or reviewed their offer?

Just wondering if this makes sense to join or am I wasting my time with stuff like this?

This depends on what the tricks are and if they, the owers of the web site actually own the rights to sell them. You could be paying money to someone who doesn't own what they are selling which is not ethical. It's taking money from the people that spent time and effort creating the trick.

There's a word for this and that word is theft so make sure that you're ot receiving stolen goods.

However, if the tricks turn out to be legitimate and you like a couple of them then it seems like a bargain.

Thanks.

Some do seem good, but how would I know if they are stolen?

How does someone own a trick or effect as I wouldn't know if these tricks are owned by someone else.

How could I find out?

Buy yourself a decent book full of good tricks. It's better value for money.

Hi Oreo - welcome to talkmagic.

One thing yoiu may want to watch is where you make your posts. This wasn't a review of electronic media - so I moved it to the Miscelaneous section.

Ok, sorry.

I did want to give a review on the Vaporize trick, so I thought this was the place as it was a downloadable video and just thought I'd ask everyone's else's opinion on the other tricks while I was at it.
