On another note, I have noticed that a number of coin magicians tend to prefer darkened coins. I was at a Will Houston lecture last year and he specifically mentioned this. He had a method of treating the coins that gave the raised and lower areas much more contrast. I will check his notes when I go home this evening, but having seen people preform with really shiny coins, and with 'old' looking coins, I would have to agree with him that the older ones do look better.
Does anyone know this method of darkening a coin to give it more contrast? This is exactly the look which i've always wanted my coins to have. Flashy US magicians all seem to have fancy looking coins that look like this (Noblezada's coins in partivular) Obviously id love to look as cool as them, so does anyone out there know this secret metal polishing method? ( that may haveb been the nerdiest thing i've ever written on this forum)

Don`t knock Brasso `till you`ve tried it, skinicod. it may cause dain bramage

darkening a coin to give it more contrast
I think it depends on the type of coin your using, I can remember some years ago using a gas burner and wrapping a copper coin in silver foil, this gave it a contrast dull but shiny. Once it was to my likening I would drop it in cold water. I am not sure what made the effect the Gas or the silver foil.
Maybe experiment (With care) or do a Google on heat and effect in different metals.

Go to a jewelry shop and pick up a polishing cloth. It is a double cloth, with the chemically treated cloth on the inside and a regular buffing cloth on the outside. It works a treat.
