Okay I have to toss in my 2 cents worth. First off I agree you did a bad thing. Then you did a good thing by owning up to it, then you did a bad thing again by wishing ill will on somebody. But that is in the past. My question is how do you know that is how this persons effect works? I can think of at least two other methods, one very simple, the other perhaps not so workable. Did this person tell you his method? In the end the method doesn't matter. There are plenty of effects that are so blantently obvious and right out there in the public forum, and yet they completely baffle an audience. And why? I'll give away a secret here. It is not the effect it is the performance.

Sometimes we all go a little over the top but we need to try to see the others point of view and how they feel about our misdeed. Own up to it, apologise and hope the best for them. maybe by knowing the pitfalls of the effect you might be able to give hime a better solution. The magic community is small compared to the rest of the world so it does no good to make enemies. Everyone needs a hand up at times and it is better to make friends.
