D-Lite "Light from anywhere"

Postby Beaye » Sep 4th, '07, 23:20

I have recently bought a Blue D-Lite set. I have had a red set for a few years now, but the blue has rekindled my intrest.

For those of you who aren't familier with the effect it's a corker. You start by plucking a small ball of light (blue, green, red or yellow) from the air.
Then you proceed to throw the light into the air and catch it, bounce it under your legs and other juggler style feats. You then continue by swallowing the light (showing hands and mouth clean after), a sharp cough and it's back in your hand. Push it in one ear and pull it out the other.
After some more fast paced tricks I put the light into a closed hand and get an audience member to blow on it and it's gone (perfect clean finish).

Although I know some magicans who hate this trick, I love it. It's so visual and dynamic that it can almost be a show on it's own.
I travel alot and I got glum when the sun went down on the beach and the fire jugglers started up. I am a reasonable magican, but I do not have the ability to throw and catch very well. And so D-lite allowed me to put in a little performance once the lights went out.. Now I carry fire magic props with me and I have worked out some routines to do with fire jugglers, but D-lite still makes a regular appearance.

hope this helps

I've used a red D'lite set for a couple of years now - they seem to keep going and going

I've found them to be very entertaining for young children who are mesmorised by them. On the other hand and dependant on the routine, I also find that adults are equally entertained by them but view them more comically than Children.

I love D'lites, they're great fun. I've put together a nice routine to music that uses them and always seems to get really good reactions when I perform it.

As this isn't a Review, it's been moved into here instead.

I've got a white set, and although they are a little fiddly at times, they're just good fun and provide some good clean funny entertainment. I like to split the light into two by pusing it up my nose, sneezing, and having two lights shoot out.

Thanks for the routine tips.

I tried them out first time in Majorca about 6 weeks ago and was bitten by a massive mozzie so beware of your surroundings!

I'm off to Amsterdam next week and can't wait to take them and try them out after sampling some of the local "delicacies" - should be a giggle to say the least!!!!

Ive used Dlites for about 6-7 years, and I think there wicked....I used to use red but am now onto blue, cos most dvd player, and modern digital equipment have blue lights in them, so I find myself knicking the lights from people stuff (when I say knickin them, i dont mean taking the LED out, i mean taking the light with the Dlite and throwing it around)...

My fav routine with this is when it goes into a glass of water/wine etc and then you pull it back out again........

However I am currently working on a new routine with them wer you drink the glowing water and then spit it from your mouth still lit up!!!

The great thing with DLITES is that there easy to carry around and even if ive got no magic on me, if someone asks "look theres that magician, go on show us a trick" and if im not in a magical mood i can simply pluck a light out of nower shuve it in my nose out thru my mouth and walk off......and they love it........No palming, no tricky moves, no setup....its just easy, a monkey could do it...........but performing DLITES convincingly and performing them alongside Glowing Poi and contact balls is an artform and is beautiful..............

thats all i have to say about that really :)

My post in The Doves Head has my thoughts on D'lites, they recently helped rekindle my interest in magic when at Reading festival.

I only have red ones though but that proved useful when you take into account the Tsilk used to vanish and transform the light is red!!
