Insight - Credit Card Wallet

Postby Lord Freddie » Sep 6th, '07, 20:45

Whilst browsing through the Davenports catalogue, I noticed the Insight - Credit card Wallet by Larry Becker & Lee Earle in the mentalism section.

As hard as I may search, I couldn't find a review on this mighty forum so I was wondering if any of you knowledgable souls had it and whether it was better than the Thought Transmitter. (It produces the same kind of effect)

At £65 it costs a lot more than John Cornelius' little device (which is on my CUPS list), so I was wondering whether it was any cop?

It's not bad, but covers pretty much the same territory as Stealth Assassin Wallet. Insight isn't as expensive as the SAW, but doesn't do so much. You get a nice DVD of Messrs. Becker and Earle demonstrating a few effects as well. A couple of them are very powerful.

In truth, though, I had a Stealth Wallet at the time, and stuck with that. Insight just wasn't that much better. Then the SAW came out and the Insight remained in its box. I should revisit the routines, perhaps.

I have to say that I was very disappointed with the, um, shelf-life of the Thought Transmitter. It does the job admirably, but getting it, um, back up to speed, is nigh-on impossible. It does, however, have a really plastic nice card (credit card size) with numbers, letters and symbols on it that can be used for other effects.

I don't yet own an Outlaw Wallet (soon...), but I think that might be a better alternative to a Thought Transmitter, plus you can do some other stuff with the Outlaw Wallet.

Are you referring to the ba*****es for Thought Transmitter?
I do like the sound of it and have heard great things, but are they hard to replace?

Yes, that is indeed what I mean.

I didn't find anywhere that stocked them, although you could have them shipped in from the USA, I suppose. That was way too much hassle, and I understand that they're constructed in a way that makes it impractical to fix them yourself.

I decided I didn't really like the possibility of a failure at a crucial moment (who does, eh?), or the expense and annoyance of replacements, so I abandoned the Transmitter altogether. It's a shame, because it's very good.

The battery pack does sound a bit of a con. Shame it can't be modified to take some kind of normal ones.
