Approaching people on the street for magic (2)

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

@ Lord Freddie:
well camera is good...but big chance always have these conditions :P

@ those for smoking people: yeah I agree that, time is most essential in my opinion. Alas the people here in my town are more focused on their own buisness and less open minded gives me a hard time and a lot of rejections

I thknk street magic, of the approaching a complete stranger kind, is not as fanciful as it appears on the television.
When you see Blaine, Brown, Angel etc approach people on the street, often the conditions are slightly staged so people know there's something going on and I am sure there is prep work (where Blaine is concerned) that you don't see on camera.
His voodoo ash routine, for instance, is edited so that his hands never come near the spec.

Although it would be great for a lot of people if you could parade around the streets doing your magic to the delight and joy to all who see you, the reality is a lot different and could be disheartening for some.
Watch the character Dean Tavaloris in Series 3 of the comedy show 'League of Gentlemen' for a parody of street magicians. Very funny and nearer to reality than a Blaine tv special!

yeah you mean the ash to hand routine?
sure quite a lot you'll never see in televison
levitation is the best example ;)
and they rarely show the rejections which give us the illusion that street magicians are always welcome...

True that,
You cant look like a freak (Angel, Blaine) and believe everyone will be glad to meet you. For this you'd need a camera man, a television crew and to be known will really helps to put everyone in confidence.
