Magic for a School Project

Postby theunknown » Sep 9th, '07, 20:30

I go to an (almost) IB school, so now in the end of the the Middle Years Program I'm required to complete a Personal Project (oh the joys of IB  ). Anyway, considering magic is something I do, it would be only logical that I make my project based on the subject, but thats really as far as iv' e gotten with the Ideas. Any fool can make a youtube-like video compilation of single sleights and call the magic tricks (or street magic for that matter) but the tough part is to link to some greater purpose or at-least give it some meaning. Im really in need of a push to get my project started but I'm not getting any great ideas about what the project actually will be (or maybe I'm just too pedantic about the whole thing). Any way, It would be great to hear some Ideas to get me inspired as I'm now very blank about the whole subject. The project can be almost anything (essay, short story, video, pictures of the corpse of your deceased aunt... the list goes on). Im not expecting anybody to give me a project in hand (although that would be nice  ) but I'm just in search of a push in the right direction.

Thanks sincerely,
Jaakko

How about some essay on the history of magic/some small part of magic?

Or perhaps some experiments involving magic or a trick?

Hi TheUnknown.

I'm thinking of Banachek and his fooling of all those 'scientists' who, after several years of testing concluded that he was indeed, psychic?

Now regardless of what you may think of Banachek's PR stunt, I'm getting memories of when I was at school and getting told how to do a 'fair test' in science lessons. :x
I feel sick at the thought.

It seems to me that if Banachek's scientists had listened in class then they would have had no problem in catching him out.
You know, discounting all possibilites except the thing you're testing.

Perhaps you could do your own version, exposing the flaws of the rules of scientific tests?

I think it would be great to catch the science teachers out, fool them at their own game and then show them how to do their jobs properly.
