Postby magicdiscoman » Apr 24th, '04, 15:01

i belive it was seige who first sugested a cups and balls routine useing a chop device and plastic cups, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

since then i have been after a chop ring, harping back to the old days of the emporer ring, iv'e also come across a chop card and chop tt.
has anyone had any experience with any of thease items.
the chop ring was origionaly designed for coin work.

I do an impromptu chop cup routine with plastic cups. Basically put a m****t in the end of a pen (like a sharpie). Now carry this with you everywhere. All you need is this pen and a normal ball and a special chop cup ball (which I carry with me everywhere. Now there are certain moves that I have put together which enable you to styeal the ball out the plastic cup by using the pen (which is introduced as a magic wand substitute. Thgese moves look just as impressive as a regular chop cup (if not more so). Don't want to give too much away on an open forum so p.m me if you want more imformation.

cheers i know were your comeing from as i had a wand that was a chop wand for a ring or coin vanish, the pen is also a cool idea for er hrmm impromptu events.
just one point of order dont refer to something as m*******t, we use the universal callsign of ardvarck, ie the ardvark in my scotch and soda's jammed please help.
or you can use a term like chop cup, chopped, hold out and pinch as thease are not readily known.
this just helps us in the know stay in the know and keep out the masked magician's

the origional idea from seige was to use a raven as it flys away on command and is easily aquired and if you already have one then its a good idea. i didnt get on with mine.

I read somewhere about a sanada gimmick and an aardvark - that could also be useful

The chop cup dates back to a magician named Al Wheatly who dressed as an oriental and performed under his stage name CHOP CHOP. Saw him perform in a Chicago restaurant called the VICTORY GARDEN. The year was 1949.
