Jeff McBride has many videos on it. Many basic sleight of hand books teach the basics of the technique.

TheMiracleFactory is selling a book about Cardini. I'm not certain, but I think it teaches his act as well as his history.

That type of card manipulation is very difficult- be prepared to practice for hours and hours.

Good luck.

Another great place to learn Cardini-like effects and techniques is the Tarbell Course in Magic Volume 2. Though this doesn't go into as much detail as the McBride videos, it is still an excellent source for learning the techniques Cardini uses. Plus there is just so much other information in this book. If you are really into magic in different forms (cards, coins, ropes, silks, etc.) buy this book and the rest of the serries. They are possibly the best books I have ever bought.

I echo the sentiments of mccabe24, the Tarbell course us a wonderful source for learning magic.
I'm no Cardini, but I learnt how to back and front palm and produce fans from Tarbell 2 and it features a few methods used by Cardini himself such as the effect where he bursts his hand through a hoop covered with paper to produce a fan.
These effects take a fair deal of practice to get down smoothly, but the satisfaction you will feel when you've mastered them.... priceless!

Jeff Sheridan's "Card Manipulation" DVD's have most of the Cardini moves on them...which are taught, very well. After all, McBride learned from Sheridan...why not you?

Tarbell on CD is less expensive although perhaps not quite so convenient as in book form. Check out www.lybrary.com for the current details.

The CD version is not the same as the books, it's worth getting them a
volume at a time (as I did). I know that both Davenports and International Magic stock them. Volume 2 contains the card manipulations you are after, the Cardini style things.

There certainly are differences and the Lybrary website lists exactly what's on the CD. I've only read this for the first time just now and amazingly the claim is that some of the book contents aren't Tarbell's work. Taken from that www.lybrary.com website:

The Tarbell Course is without a doubt the most comprehensive and most encompassing magic literary work in existance today. It has almost 1300 pages and nearly 2900 illustrations. It covers practically every form of magic: sleight of hand with cards, coins, thimbles, cigarettes, silks, ropes, ..., up to mentalism and illusions. It goes beyond the mere technique and teaches patter, routining, marketing and other often neglected facets of being a magician. There is no other book which comes even close in breadth and depth of the material covered. It is amazing that since the late 1920s nobody has written anything as comprehensive as the Tarbell Course. This course has lost very little over time and is still a wonderful reference work and study aid. Most would agree that the Tarbell Course should be part of any magicians library.

You will get the original correspondence course of 60 lessons plus the one post graduate lesson that Tarbell wrote. These 60 + 1 lessons are not identical to the later published anthologies (book volumes 1-8 of which only 1-5 were actually written by Tarbell himself; the other volumes were added later under the Tarbell Course name mainly for marketing purposes). For the most part, the 60 lessons can be found under different lesson numbers and sometimes different headings in the volumes 1 to 5 of the books. The post graduate lesson was reprinted in book volume 8. There are some parts from the original 60 lessons that you will not find anywhere in the eight book volumes.

The 60 lessons are laid out with a lot of thought. You learn not just the moves and principles, but the history of magic, ethics, how to market yourself and patter to each trick. In one sentence a unique book sitting on the peak of the pile of magic literature.

I am sure I have seen the contents on a site somewhere and will post it or type it all up. The lesson concerning the Cardini-style productions is called SLEIGHT OF HAND WITH CARDS which I couldn't see above so it's either missing, been renamed or my eyesight is playing up again.

The final two volumes aren't by Tarbell himself, the seventh is edited by the wonderful Harry Lorayne and the eight contains a mixture of material, some of it from Tarbell himself which was missing from the original course.

I'm not sure how they compare, but I think the books are well worth the price and if bought individually, the cost is not noticed too much.
If I'm right, the first volume is around £15 in Davenports and the second around the £20 mark. The eight one is more expensive being £28.

You'll be glad they're on your shelf.

Tarbell Course vol 2 is only £20 here:
http://www.internationalmagic.com/acata ... oks_1.html
They are all this price except the final one which is £24.

The books are more like encyclopedias than a course you follow step by step, so if you bought number 2 just for the card manipulation stuff you could, with study and practice, do it.

I hope this helps, I have the book before me and will detail what this lesson contains:

Lesson 25
SLEIGHT OF HAND WITH CARDS

BACK AND FRONT HAND PALMING

"Performer takes a card or several cards between his thumb and fingers. With a slight wave of the hand, cards disappear. Magician turns his hand over and shows that they are not on the back. He continues to show back and front of hand empty, then suddenly produces the cards at his finger tips."
Also explains how to produce the cards in a fan.

SIMPLIFIED BACK AND FRONT HAND PALM
Easier version of above.

PRODUCTION OF CARDS ONE AT A TIME FROM BACK OF HAND

PRODUCTION OF CARDS ONE AT A TIME FROM FRONT OF HAND

TO VANISH CARDS ONE AT A TIME AND REPRODUCE THEM

FLASH CARD PRODUCTION
This is one Cardini performed.
Effect: "Performer shows too wooden embroidery hoops. He places a sheet of tisue paper between them and pushes one hoop down over the other, forming a sort of tambourine. He then shows boths sides of tambourine and his empty right hand.
Suddenly he plunges his right hand through the paper and hoops, tearing the paper. Just as his hand appears through the paper a fan of cards is seen at his finger tips."

PRODUCING FANS OF CARDS
Another effect Cardini used.
Effect: "Performer shows his right hand empty front and back. Yet reaching out, he suddenly produces a fan of cards in his hand. These he drops into a hat, or some receptacle. Again and again he produces fans of cards which he succesively tosses away."

COLOUR CHANGES WITH CARDS
A selection of colour changes including The Phantom Pip, Back Hand Colour Change, Open Finger Colour Change, Slap Change, Push Up colour Change, Thumb Steal Colour Change, Double Card Change, Slip Up Colour Change and Top Card Change.

MODERN CARD CHANGE
Method of changing one card into another.

SINGLE HAND CARD CHANGE

BOTTOM DEALING

SECOND DEALING

THE RIBBON DROP
Effect: "A pretty card flourish in which the cards drop quickly and evenly from right hand down to left, held about twelve inches below. The even dropping gives the effect of a ribbon."

THE CASCADE
Similar to the Ribbon Drop but the cards are curved and fall in a cascade.

PRODUCTION OF CARDS FROM THE MOUTH

CASCADE PRODUCTION FROM BOY'S NOSE

THE ONE-HANDED CUT

Hopefully this info should tell you whether or not these are the effects you are after. It's a great lesson and a great volume and well-illustrated.
