Thumb Writers

Does anyone use the Vernet TT writer? I am trying to settle on the best (for me) version of this gimmick.

The Vernet Boon is the one I like best, though I don't use a writer any more. It's tiny, and goes anywhere you put it. It's a bit pricey, though.

I agree. The Boon is the best I've found. I have mine stuck to my belt while I'm working, and attach as required.

I am also in the Vernet Boon Users Club.
It's £8.99 from www.moremagictricks.co.uk which is the cheapest I have seen it. I used to use an undernail 'c' writer which had some frustrating elements to it, but I much prefer the boon and it's simple to use and discreet.

I've always been a boon man too..not the tv series, that was awful...

recently, i splashed out on lincoln's best boon device straight from the man's own site - superb for me, it has a hidden extra for holding out and so on...also, though a little costly, im never gonna have to buy another - i got some special refils and a pencil that matches exactly in width and colour...and a little tin to keep everything but the pencil in...

cost me forty quid in total, got two boons, but as soon as i tried it..loved it...and i dont have to buy any more...oh yeah, and you get his book too for the price...

oh and i can recommend Eric Mason's (the inventor of the boon) book - a Boon for all Seasons for some ideas and routines..

From what I understand of the Super Sharpie it somehow tells you what someone has written, I am looking at thumb writers for prediction work.

But on the Super Sharpie subject, is anyone using one regularly? I seem to remember it had a luke warm reception when it was first discussed on here.

I was reading up on thumb-tip work a few weeks back and remember reading something to the effect of "if you use a TT regularly, sooner or later you WILL drop it".. this was hardly encouraging and methinks that the same must apply to the use of a boon.. has anyone had this happen and how do you drag yourself out of that one? It must destroy the psychic illusion just a little bit?

I have the Vernet Boon now. This has not happened to me but the thing is so small I tyhink you could cover the drop by dropping something else and picking both items up together.

Remember, the spectator has never heard of a T/writer, all anyone would see if it dropped wouild be a small piece of plastic.

Brazen it out!

I have used the TT writer often for certain effects. I like it very much. It is much easier to conceal than you might think (just employ a bit of technique!) and gives a very sure writing method. For other effects I must use a more subtle writer. For example, to write on a calling card I would likely use something else. But for writing on a small pad, I like the TT writer the best. I also use the TT writer when I perform prediction effects with the Card Catcher.

Best to all-

Steve

I rarely use a writer, but when I do I use a super sharpie. I like the loading and unloading - very natural and no dumping off into pockets.
