My First Ever Mind-reading Experience

Postby Beardy » Sep 14th, '07, 00:33

Well I decided to brave it today...and i went in "Naked" and read somebody's mind.

"Think of a memory", said I. "Any memory...one I certainly could not know, even if I dug up the dirt on you beforehand. Nothing traumatic mind...I don't want you having a breakdown on me!"

"Got one?"

"Lovely"

*Chris reads the spec's mind...in surprising detail*

*a few mins later*

"So. I see you at the age of 10, skiving school, and going out with some friends to play...hmmm. It seems like you are playing football? But very badly!"

Spec: Holy s***! Yes! That is the exact game! I didn;t even tell you we were playing! Can you tell me where?

Chris: "Haha...ok...close your eyes and focus. Hmmm...it seems it is somewhere different to normal...not a pitch, or even a field or tarmac. It is a place that you have to be really good to play in...and, well, judging from the way you were playing, you weren't good enough."

Spec: "Yes, it's the beach! Oh my God! We did struggle to play on it, and you have to be good on it! That is incredible!

Chris: "That's cool. So what did you think of that then? Enjoy?

Spec: "Hell yes"

Chris: "And there was no way in hell I could have known that memory, let alone made you pick it, correct?"

Spec: "Yes - absolutely"

Chris: "Lovely. Just before I leave though, I just want to say one thing."

Spec: "What's that?"

Chris: "There were 5 of you in this memory, playing football. Exactly 5."

Spec: "Holy cr@p! That's right! You're amazing!"

Chris: "Thanks"

I just have to say that doing this was one of the hardest things that I have ever done, managing to read the guy and get the age, what they were doing, the fact that they were skiving, and the fact that they were playing football...especially without him telling me :? . But it was really, really satisfying!

Love

Chris

Well done Chris, doing this kind of effect well is a very satisfying experience.
It's the same feeling when I read someones 'past' in a tarot reading and the look on their face when I get it 100% correct. It's hard to not to smile and look pleased with yoursefl!

Beardybum...

Firstly, congrats... you are now entering the world that only few can say they have... the realms of the 'independent' miracle worker—i.e. you did this all by yourself, with no props, no gimmicks, no stooges, no messing.

It feels real, doesn't it?

Secondly, congrats #2... in the face of adversity, you've proven to lots of others on this board that with a little effort, willpower, knowledge and bottle, it is completely unwise and unjust to debunk or dismiss the actual power that 'simple' cold reading and mentalism has.

Power to you fella!

*PS... you still want this stuff, or what???? :D *

congrats mate.. Mentalism is very addictive, and the rewards are great. And just goes to show as said, the simpler the method.. the better the reactions can be.. its all about being bold.

Theres a couple of things you can say when you get it wrong :

Think about it.

And It dosent matter.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Take lessons from people like the late Doris Stokes when doing her 'medium' act. If she told a sitter she sensed that they were having problems with a person called Eric and the sitters said they weren't and didn't even know anyone called Eric, Doris would just say, 'Don't worry dear, it hasn't happened yet but it will in the next three months or so' thus switching from current to future timescale knowing the sitter is unlikely to come back in three month's time and call her bluff. Priceless trickery!
