STAG DOO FORCE HELP

Postby Brownhg1976 » Sep 17th, '07, 20:28

Gentle Magi
My stag do is in 3 weeks time and I want to play an elaborate practical joke on one of my friends. I want to rig a competition for a mystery prize. Basically the prize is a printed T SHIRT with my best mans face on it and his nickname. There's 20 of us on the stag do and I need to think of a raffle type / force effect that looks totally genuine. Everyone knows I'm a performing magician and they know I'm a card mechanic, so card forces are really out of the question. I have guy bavli's "inter" net force bag that would work but it looks just to gimmicky.
I have scoured through all my mentalism books and most pseudo lottery tricks that i've come across involve dogey billet switches.

Can anyone come up with anything????

HGB

Use a clear force bag then. Simple. I know dini has done it again. My Name is also in a supplement to Switchcraft. (in the thanks for promoting it bit)

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Is this to be 'his' game, or is it supposed to be something where everyone takes part, or simply a raffle, as you said?

For a raffle-type effect, Markdini's suggestion works perfectly.

For a slightly different approach, why not have six prizes, listed on a bit of card in your wallet? Prizes include your watch, your wallet, your car, a trip to the Caribbean, etc. He gets a free choice of number between one and six, but whichever number picked, he gets what he so richly deserves.

Well, you do own a Stealth Assassin Wallet (I saw it in your introduction).

Oh aye a simple index system Could work here. Even a billet switch, allthough you wouldnt get the hands of approach. Loaded dice could also work. First five people use a normal dice the "victim" gets a loaded switched in dice just to build on an idea part-timer had.

Now your just being silly :P.

Actually I dont think this would work on a large group of people if you are forcing different things on diffrent people.

My recommendation would be Max Maven's Just Chintz routine.

You'll find it on the Nothing DVDs.

I use it a lot because it's very adaptable to the context of any situation, and it's great fun.

I must have go tthe wrong end of the stick. I thought he was forcing it on his best man. Didn't realise they were all picking. There is a way you could adapt it, though if it is a routine where everyone has a choice then the clear force bag as mentioned would be the simplest and most effective. And they are extremely cheap.

THe just chintz routine is nice, and you can pick up the dice for a couple of quid at cards4magic.

My reason for suggesting the pateo force, was because (although I mis understood the original brief) I had something in mind like Andy Nymans Mr Saturday Night. An adaptation of that would still be a fun idea for such an occaison.

The 'Just Chintz' routine is very good; I used it for a friend last year and it went down a storm.

There's also a product called 'No Chance' by Peter Nardi and Marc Spelmann that offers a similar principle, but a slightly different take on it. It gets round one of the possible problems with the Maven routine and I wish I'd had 'No Chance' last December!
