I have jiggernaut and find that this version of the cups and balls goes down really well. Most of the places I perform tend to be quite rowdy such as bars and club night and find that using jiggernaut as an opener sobriety test works a treat.
the patter goes that I need to check that they are drunk enough so that I can perform without getting caught out.
funnily I own a regular chop cup that I never use...especially after the last time I showed Markdini my 'I've had several pints and am gonna make a chop cup routine up on the fly' routine.

don't think you can have a cups and balls thread without mentioning Gazzo.

i was lucky enough to tour with him throughout the summer this year and learned a lot from watching him. he his one of the slickest cups and balls magicians out there.

I so want to believe that those are the cups on balls on those ancient tombs but with more understanding I am believing it is actually depicting bread bakers.

I love the cups and balls. I don't perform them regularly but I own all sorts and have collected all kinds of junk for loads. Currently I am working on a keep your eye on the ball. Of course I wind up with novelty store fake eyes as suprise loads. That is growing in a horribly pun filled road. As then I let my ring clink on one cup and ask, 'did you hear that?' of course there is then an ear under the cup. And finally its a mind over matter thing and I wind up with a brain as the final load.

Hi,

Lots of interesting stuff about the cups... What you have, as I'm sure you know, is a chop-chop cup, named for its inventor, Chop-Chop (Al Wheatly). This was his solution for the Johnny Paul routine. Johnny Paul's routine was a magician stumper as the method was unconventional. Wheatly's solution was incorrect, but launched what has now become a standard prop. Don Alan did a lot to increase its popularity.

I really like your ideas regarding presentation - adds a beautiful theme and adds something magical.

Best to you-

Steve
