Training Course

Postby Tubbycranker » Sep 23rd, '07, 20:56

Hi,

I read in magicweek a couple of editions ago, about a training course which was being run by someone called Tony Jackson.

I have tried searching on google but it hasn't turned up anything about him.

Does anyone know this chap, or indeed, anything about this course?

I think this would really help me boost my confidence and could be that little bit of guidance and support I am always looking for from someone with experience. I also think the business side of things may be useful to me, but I am a little skeptical and was looking for any information anyone may have.

The web address for the course is www.magiciantraining.co.uk

Regards,

Stuart

I've just run a search before posting the same question.

The routine seems fairly standard, it's the second day of the course that interests me most.

£300 for 2 days doesn't seem to be overly expensive considering the price of hiring an entertainer for a wedding/private function for 3 or 4 hours, and considering it's almost one to one tuition seems almost too good.

I think it sounds pretty good, a couple of days one on one tutoring would be really useful I'd think.

O.K. guys.First off this is my first post on this forum so please forgive me as i haven't written about myself yet but i will.My name is Tony Jackson and i am the course tutor.I had the idea over a year ago because i was thinking back to a time when i first started magic ( over 25 years ago ) and how i wished i had a teacher that could teach me not only the effects and sleights but also how to get the gigs, what to charge, audience management and all the other necessary skills to become a successful close up magician.Well at that time as any of the older members on here will tell you there wasn't any internet and magic was still regarded as a highly secretive art.Much more so than it is now.No one would tell you anything unless you were in with the right people. But you couldn't get in unless you knew the effects, catch 22.
Well times do change and although i still think the art should still be kept secretative i also believe people who wish to learn should be given a chance to do so.
Which is why i started teaching my professional routine,by the way the effects that are on the web site are only a small part of the effects that i teach. There are sleight of hand, psychic control, mindreading and comedy effects. In all there are over 20.What the course actually does is quicken your learning curve. What would normally take you years of trial and error learning these techniques can be learned in a couple of days. However you will still have to put the hard work in after the course. You must still practice everything you learn until it becomes almost second nature.
I hope i haven't broken any advertising rules on this site stating this but i just wanted to let interested parties what to expect.
All the best....Tony
