Trusted Online Magic Stores

Postby projectaero » Sep 25th, '07, 15:27

Hello.
I live in Australia and am looking at buying some magic dvd's etc.
I am wondering what online stores are trusted and well known.

I know of two.

PenguinMagic - Seems to be one which is.
Ellusionist - Pretty quick and reliable shipping

Anyone else got some trusted.

US magic shops only.
Thanks

If it's DVD's you are looking for, and you find a product that you want at a price you're happy with, then Penguin & Ellusionist are both VERY reliable and offer VERY good service.

some additional reliable suppliers I can recommend:

http://www.hanklee.org/xcart/home.php

http://www.magic.org/store/index.php

http://www.magicianslair.com/index.html

really depends on what you're looking for.

in AUS consider:

http://www.themagicstore.com.au/

and

http://www.carmineshouseofmagic.com/

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!!!

http://magicmore.com/

They recieved my order about 6-7 weeks ago and I still do not have it. Every time I try to contact them I get either no reply or an answering machine. I'm willing to bet this website is a total scam.

However, I do strongly recomend www.magic.org

I have always ordered from magicbox.uk.com, and they have always been excellent.
NUMS which is run by seige is always highly spoken of, though I havent ordered from there yet (though xmas is looming!).

I have heard very negative things about Hank lee though, especially from overseas customers.

Hi projectaero, Try a google search with your zip/post code add the word Magic. There could be a shop in your area or a online dealer. Once on the site look for a full address and land line number, give them a call make a small order if you feel all is ok.

I am not sure if Aus has to pay import tax? If you do have to order from the USA or U.K ask them to put Gift or sample on the package then you don't have to pay import tax, same for sending things to USA and Canada from the U.K, Oh it is a gift they put a free pen in the package..:)

I hope this helps..

I agree. Theyve got great shipping policies, great prices, and great products. What more could you want?

A little more info for you. assuming you are talking 1 - 2 DVD's or similar, you will not get charged any GST or duty.

be mindful of the cost and time frame for shipping. for example shipping a DVD from the US. Your options are:

surface mail: < $2.00 @ around 8 - 10 weeks.
air mail: < $6.00 @ around 7 days.
Fedex or similar: $30 - $40 @ around 2 - 3 days.

These costs are the approx actual shipping costs. So packing and handling may be extra depending on yr supplier. Some suppliers will offer you free shipping to AUS with orders of a certain value. I accepted this offer ONCE... bought a book (not much bigger than a DVD). It was sent surface mail and tool around 10 weeks! to think i could have had it in 5 - 7 days buy paying just a little more!
