Portable P.A. System

Postby Lownatic » Sep 30th, '07, 20:45

I have a P.A. system which is fine for large halls, however it is a little time consuming to set up, and needs mains electricity. I notice there is a new, small portable system on the market called Speakezee Portable P.A.
It appears to be small, light easy to use and incudes a radio mic. It costs about £100 and apparently is endorsed by Martin Sanderson (I have e-mailed him to confirm) It just seems too good to be true, has anyone out there got one? and if so how about a review or at least some user info please.

saw one of thease demed at a music shop and live so to speak by a panpipe player.
they certainly seem to do the job and the panpipe man said that he gets between 2 and 3 hours use from his unit, the only caviet is the mike is vhf not uhf, but you do get the choice of which of the three units to use and the quality of the mikes are aceptable for vocals, a fair price for this type of unit, basicly a guitar amp with reverb and radio.

Thanks for that Discoman.
Its the portability that appeals, as I've had several outside gigs this summer an my system requires mains, also the time to set up sounds aso it will be quick.
Not being very technical, what are the practical implications of VHF over UHF mics?

ok - they cost more than £100 but LD systems do a really nice one with a built in cd player and radio mic. They run off the mains or internal rechargeable battery - and you can add slave speakers onto it too.

Anyway - make sure the radio mic is UHF, they are much better quality and much less likely to pick up the local taxi firm.

Thanks Darren, but is this an independant review by a user, or part of the "blurb" from the manufacturers?

Darren, have experienced the potential problems highlighted by the guys above re picking up the local taxi firm on the VHF mics?

Not sure if it's any good, but this one:

Seems like good value for £105.99, and if you join their mailing list you get 10% discount.
