UFO card

Postby sly » Oct 1st, '07, 09:31

Ive got the a instructional dvd on and ive built the gimmick
problem is when throwing the card it either has one of two problems:

1:it spins for just a second

2:The IT pulls it back and it stops spinning

I know its not my card throwing technique because i can throw a card the lenght of two big rooms (not bragging).

Ive tried it various lenghts and it still doesnt work....

The only thing i think it may be is that the card im using is faulty(its quite old)

What can i do?

If at first you don't succeed, try—try again.

However...

With this effect... if at first you don't succeed—give in, 'cos it's rubbish anyway.

Don't know if the condition of the card has something to do with it.
Also don't try to throw the card, but try to just spin it at first. If you throw it to hard the IT will pull the card back or the IT might just break.

Practice spinning the card in place first, then add just a very small throwing motion to it, just enough to make it spin from one hand to the other.

hmm still the card doesnt spin long enough...
in the vid they keep it spinning for like 10 seconds mine only spins for 1 or 2
And the problem is with this trick i cant practise a lot without the IT breaking...
because im not using wax im using tape maybe thats it?

as was said, you do not need to throw the card AT ALL, this isnt the boomerang card, and throwing it will result in either the gimmick breaking, or the speck figuring out whats goin on...just spin in on its axis. also, make sure your 'connection' is central to the card, otherwise iit will look sloppy, and wont spin for long.

Actually it could very well be your technique. As the way you throw a card a long distance, is not the same way you should "throw" this card.

If the thread is pulling it back, it means your "throwing" it wrong.

If it stops spinning, it means your not putting enough spin on it.

focus more on a spin, than a distance throw.

All you can really do is watch other videos, seeing what they are doing.. and just flat out practice. Try different "throws" and such.
