hi folks I'm after basic card tricks that i can a4 size for kids shows.
i have royal road so any ideas on open forum can refer to this volume and anything not public please e-mail me, many thanxs.

You could probably use a couple different top-card forces. I don't know if they're in RRTCM, but you could get one child to pick a number, count that many off the top on to a pile with all the kids joining in, then tell them they weren't loud enough and count them again on to another pile, thus coming back to the top card.

Revealing it is then at your discretion. Maybe a puppet, or some kind of sound effect through your PA or something. That way you can use animals or anything on the cards.

In fact, how about using shapes. Force say a circle shape, then get all the children to think really hard about the shape they saw, then pull a silk from anywhere with a circle on it!

Just as an idea with forces, a kid could be the "mind reader" ( or some other child friendly alternative) then you could give the other cards out to each child and they then shuffle themselves until the chosen card-chilod is found in some miraculous way.

Reading that back it doesn't make much thematic, methodological or normal sense but it may be of some help. I hope so.

thanxs i used to do a similar version with the kids all wearing hats, the kid with the chosen card had the hat with the sink plunger in it .

I would suggest looking through the Fulves self working books, because most of the items use simple set ups, and can be adapted to suit large cards.

I haven't tried this - but it might work

Use the same principle as for the "McCombical Prediction" effect but instead of using playing cards you could design your own cards with animals etc.

Even if you stick to the original you'll find the effect is easy to follow for most ages and great fun. The adults really enjoy this one too (particulary important as we have to please not just the children but also the people who are paying ). I have used it in my repeat shows with children 6+ with great results.

Or this....

Svengali deck using cartoon characters (see http://www.practical-magic.com ) and do a routine based on the one from Scott Guinns DVD (can't rememebr the name now - will post tomorrow - unless someon else can help me out). make up your own jumbo card and place in envelope - you go through the cards one by one until the child tells you to stop - and Bingo - you get the prediction 100% right

That's the one - but what's the name of the 2nd to last routine on the DVD - the one before the rope trick?? The one that uses 2 glasses?
