I'm sorry but I am going to lock this thread.

Just to clarify WHY...

Mr Peters is obviously a nut job. This thread is not only insulting his own intelligence, but also quite demeaning to Greg Wilson—who would probably laugh his neck straight if he heard about this.

I cannot believe we've managed to spawn a 2-page post about a kid doing a Benny-Hill esque camera trick.

It reminds me of the rubbish I saw about 5 years ago around magic sites when video web cameras were just becoming affordable... and it's still as ineffective today.

So long, and thanks for all the fish...

haha - fair enough.

I do like how he expects us to believe Greg Wilson invented stop motion magic ;)

He didn't... it was pioneered by Willis O'Brien in the early 1900s, which I suppose 'sounds' a bit like 'Greg Wilson' >>??<<<

Perhaps all the months and hours of gazing at YouPube vids and comments made him a little confused?

Our man seems to have missed out several vital ingredients in his stop-motion movie, most notably the huge lack of 3 fl oz of continuity.

Now there's a childhood hero...

Aside from countless subjection to Columbo, Carry On, Benny Hill, Zulu and James Bond, our pappy used to be a stickler for the old faves—Argonauts, Titans and Sinbad... bring it on! Ray's animations inspired a generation, and even looking back on it now, I can safely say it is STILL groundbreaking (considering the tools of the day).

Now, if this thread doesn't warrant the :: oh dear :: emoticon then I don't know what does!

well i posted the name of the move used if you lot are to lazy to research the move yourselves thats not my fault. you are the reason genral public is not intrested in magic anymore your so stuck in your ways as what is possible and what is not it is actualy sad this is why magic has hardly evolved in over 50 years. lets look at the facts if it was a camera trick i wouldn't have to defend the move would i i'd just report you to the moderators for exposure as soon as you said it (which is against the rules last time i checked) even if it is a method you dissagreed with using. but as it is it is using the louis simonov flipit move and if you don't know the move then thats understandable as most magicians always seem to be concentrating on fancy moves and flourishes when the best effect is usualy using the simplist of moves which this is .

Well, Steve, I must admit that I'm a bit disappointed. I really thought that your second vid was meant as a joke and I appreciated it...But, you are now using it to go on an insult-fest.

A shame.

Mike.

If it were ACTUALLY Simonov's flipping move then it would be the greatest performance of it ever seen. IF!
The flipping move does seem to be taught in various places but you rarely see it used as a colour change just because it seems virtually impossible to keep the cards squared (or maybe that's just the DVDs I've got, damn you Penguin!). I use the move myself, occassionally, but use a second or two of misdirection to achieve the disired effect, since it's a lot easier than trying to be able to do it quick enough.

It's also quite a joke that if anyone is indeed familiar with the flippit move (Simonov) then sheer logistics prevent it being performed at this speed anyway.

i removed them my self so you lot are noew free to go back to jerking off over you david blaine books and ellusionist dvd's oh and fyi the flippit move is supposed to be performed fast so as the spectator doesn't see it and if you hold the cards correctly they will square up quite naturaly if you can't do somthing that simple then i guess it is just as well you will never be booked to work as magicians
