New but not so New

Hi all,
Just thought I would drop you a line to intro myself. I am 43 yrs young male and have been interested in magic for most of my years. I was a very young member of the Middlesbrough circle of magicians (as was a certain Mr Paul Daniels) who I believe is now an honorary member, many moons ago, but somewhere got lost amidst family life and those little things we need to nourise and love, oh yes thats it, kids they're called. I found your site recently and thought I would register as its amazing how far magic has come since long ago and I have really got myself interested again by reading your jovial banter and professionalism. Please feel free to answer and help me out with this forum as its the first i've ever been involved with.
Just a note to add, I think the props of the moment when I was a lad were the square circle and zombie, Oh how times have changed.

I'll update my profile when I figue out how to

Keep Smiling

Kev

Hi and welcome to TM

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

storm, I hope that you'll find this to be a useful passtime as well as an avenue to help you along the path that seems to be all new to you.

But, with all the new garbage, my friend, all the same, old rules exist.

What's new on the market means spit. If you still have that spark, that little thing inside that makes you enjoy entertaining an audience by fooling the hell outta them, then you are right where you need to be at this point in your life.

Enjoy the forums.

Mike.

Hi Storm!

I find it funny that when I came back to magic, I was amazed to find that most of the effects and routines that I encountered and believed to be 'new' were actually very very old.

It's a result of having a slightly different approach to magic than I had when I was younger. And also, as a lad, I was a member of a magic society and didn't look much further than the kind of magic other members were doing. These days I have to go looking all on my own, and my horizons are much broader.

:D
