What levitation device is used for this?!

Postby BWit01 » Oct 15th, '07, 17:54

I saw someone in a bar. He took a quarter, shower his hands empty, and spun the quarter in air, and made it keep spinning in the air, and then made it go through his hands. Onlookers put their hands all around it.

What device is this? It can't be an ITR. And where could I find it?

Hmmm... can I have some of what you are taking

I think you are misremembering things... video of the sequence would prove this out I'm certain. If not then the gent you saw doing this had to be either Jesus cheating again with those dang holes in his hands or Satan making fun of him...

Actually this can be done with Steve fearson's floating cig routine.

I've done this with a bulldog clip, coins. a very small miniature disco ball a life saver and yes your can have the spectator put thier hands around it. I'm not sure if it shows it in the clip, I'm too lazy to watch the whole thing. and I'm at work.

Okay I just went back he is not demonstrating with a spectator, but trust me it can be done and pretty easily. Nor did he spin the cigarette probably because it is lit., but again can be done.

nah...it is only the "illusion" of putting your hands all around it ;)

there is still a hook-up point, do not forget :P

I understand the illusion, and of course there is a hook up point, the coin (or whatever is not really floating) But the effect can be achieved and I can certainly float the object through the specators hands, through the space created when there index fingers and thumbs are touching.

one of my favourite convincers to do when floating a coin, is the "pivot" move, seen in SPUN. I let the spectator put his/her finger around the coin, and above or below...

...

...or they think that they are anyways

Sounds exactly like Spun actually, very convincing routine. It's more like learning a dance than magic what with all the choreography but it certainly looks the part.
