Wallets

Postby MagicIain » May 11th, '04, 15:46

Not having considered wallet effects, like, ever, I was wondering if there is a definitive list of magic/gimmicked/gaffed wallets that are available, and also (as you may have seen on the heirloom thread) which can be used as an every day wallet to replace the one I lost this weekend.

I saw Stealth Wallet and Heirloom so far - are there any others? And what are the advantages/limitations on each?

Thanking you all for your help in advance.

:D

There's a Card to Wallet Buyer's Guide Compiled by Douglas Atkinson which I copied off the web last year. Obviously it doesn't cover Heirloom as that's much more recent but there are a helluva lot of wallets available! Let me know if you'd like a copy - it's in Word and is about 14 pages long!

In fact, it might be something which could go in the Reference Section/Archives at some point.

Consider it done!

And if anyone else wants a copy, just let me know. It's dated 1998 but seems to be very comprehensive with Himber, Z-fold, Balducci/Kaps, Mullica and all sorts of stuff like that.

There's also the Diplomental Pouch (referred to in the only part of the Bob Cassidy DVD I've managed to watch so far). That's not on that list, possibly because it is very new, but as it seems almost impossible to locate, it might not be new and, instead, not widely known.

Tony Curtis magic does lots of inexpensive versions of wallets, which might not be ideal if you want to use it normally.

Yeah I'm looking for a normal everyday magic wallet (if such a thing exists!). I can see potential for fun in a petrol station (oh no! where's my cash? Oh there it is!) and pubs too.

BTW, is anyone from Birmingham and happened to found a wallet this weekend? If you have then it's mine. Thankyou.

Sounds like you need a wallet which has Himber-like qualities, rather than one of the "card to wallet" varieties. Some of them do both, though.

Will the Heirloom wallet fit in my jeans back pocket? It's not a weird 'long' wallet is it? The wallet I lost was a simple single-fold black leather wallet with room for cards and notes. Is it like that?

My new bank cards will be coming through the post in the next couple days, so I'm gonna order one before the weekend hopefully.

Yes the heirloom wallet will fit in your jeans back pocket no problem.

The Best wallets are Jerry O'Connell's. They are a little expensive but they are the ultimate working performers wallets, they look like real wallets not magic props. The himber wallet locks closed and the card to wallet ones load easilly without a shute which needs lifting up to reset etc. See them at www.leatherjerry.com

Al.
