In one of those more-common-than-you'd-like aimless wanders into Alakazam yesterday with a vague idea that I'd like to buy something but no idea what , I picked this up. I quite like it, when a magic accomplice saw the performance dvd he wasn't too impressed, that was due to what he perceived as dodgy handling and I didn't really pick it up. Some thoughts...
It's not a close up trick, much better suited to a stand up occassion.
The method requires some handling practice and has one point in particular that would benefit from decent routining (gentle misdirection) to cover a movement that is difficult to make appear natural. It's not madly clunky but certainly needs work.
As others have pointed out there's no need to use this for cards and the effect would probably be stronger with any other type of prediction, and much much easier. The continent idea was great and I may steal it...
I haven't performed it yet but there's a lot of potential to play around and create a very strong and engaging effect here. When done properly it should look very clean and the props are all examinable afterward, a point that those who don't have the effect have missed I think.
What you get represents good value for money to me. The props are well made and one utility has other uses than for just this effect. As with anything whether you consider it worth your cash or not is entirely your opinion. I think it's priced about right.
