On second thought I can see how paint surprise wouldn't be impromptu. I was thinking of it as if you just found the can or something.

As for impromptu not being planned, I just meant 'appear impromptu'. Even just having it on you, and being asked to do something and pulling out something common (lighter, pocket knife) and doing a trick.
