Moving to Edinburgh. Your thoughts please.

No, not about the actual concept of moving to Edinburgh, although if you have something nice to say that's always welcome. Anyway, I will be looking to meet new people and hopefully make some friends, some of whom I will be able to share magic chat with.

I read on the Edinburgh Magic Circle website that you may visit twice before applying for an audition. I've only really just started but I was going to get in touch and see if I could go along and meet them.

Also, does anyone else here live in or around Edinburgh. It would be good to meet up. I've found that I don't want to share the excitement of what I've found with my friends until I perform for them.

Thanks for the forum

I lived in Edinburgh for about nine years.

I'd still be there if work hadn't taken me down south. Edinburgh is one of the most wonderful places in the UK. I love it to bits.

Sadly I'm not still up there to be of any use, but I know you'll absolutely love it there. :)

Thanks for that, MickeyScouse.

Yes, the bars are very cool and there's lots of very cool stuff that happens there including the Fringe.

The Fringe! Of course? How could I forget?? There are always a number of magic shows to go and see as well as street performers along the royal mile.

Yes mate. Did you see anybody this year? How was it if you did?

Another thing, are there any magic shops in or around the city? Plus, what are you doing there, what sort of magic do you like etc etc.

I visited on a rugby trip about 6 or 7 years ago. Highlight of the trip was a bar called The Burke and Hare (I think) which had amazing lap dancers. In fact they were Magic...........Go if they are still there!!!

I'm moving up to live with fiancee. I'm fairly sure that if I started frequenting lap-dancing clubs I'd be out on my ear a bit sharpish! But thanks for the tip.

i swear there's something in the air in scotland in general..not just the buckfast...

they seem to have a knack of producing mighty fine magicians..

roy walton, dave campbell, pete duffie, sadowitz, and dave forrest...

i hope the air ...er...rubs off on you! enjoy your time up there..i think it's lovely there, if i could afford a place, i'd probably move up too...

Only a couple of street magicians, they were quite good but nothing that special. I saw Derren Brown in edinburgh during his Mind Reader tour!

I am yet to find a magic shop in edinburgh, I very much doubt one exists :( I'm a mentalist but I don't go round acting all mysterious, I don't wear suits and I'm not growing a goatee!!

I bet that was good. He's a talented showman.

I am growing a goatee, but only because it goes ginger and has a certain 'Riders of Rohan' type appeal.

You should get a horse too in that case! Has magic ever been done on horseback?
