Iv been in 2 car accidents, both at low speed. but both incredibly serious. I think driving awareness courses should be more general about the risks of bad driving, not just about speeding. When I took my EMT-A training (emergency medical technician) I had to watch a video of a car accident 6 times in a row in order to study it. It featured 5 people in a car. One was not wearing a seatbelt and his body kills all the people in the car upon impact (except for one girl who is left brain damaged). This sort of video is unforgetable.
RE. motorcycles, I am a motorbiker and I throughly agree that some bikers are completely irresponsible. I have been run over while riding , bike twice by car drivers who were in the first instance on the wrong side of the road and in the second instance just not paying enough attention (by his own admission). It a sad fact that some people in the medical trade regard motorbikers as PODs (possible organ donors) and will not attempt their best in order to save a bikers life. Its a really sad fact. Can you imagine if they refused to treat cancer paitents who smoked during their life, it ludicrous!
RE the picture of the woman on a bike, in some countries its not required that you wear a helmet. In Britain you have to, but you arent required to wear any sort of PPE if you dont want to. Last time i checked the figures it was believed that sliding 11 metres at 30mph could wear away up to an inch of bone away from a persons feet, hands, ankles, elbows, knees etc
