SUPERCOIN - John Kennedy Magic

Postby Yorkshire Pudding » Nov 2nd, '07, 17:24

http://www.johnkennedymagic.com/scripts ... product=91

Not released yet but looks very interesting. I just wondered if anyone has any advance word of what this is going to be like?

By the way, they tell me they WILL be doing a UK 10p version. "Soon".

There are several things that I've noted about John Kennedy magic over the years...

1) The methods are devious and, in the right hands, can produce a miracle.

2) For what you get, the price is obscene (with few exceptions).

3) Generally, even though the method is devious and could produce a miracle, it isn't applicable in the real world (with few exceptions).

Taking "Sonic Silver" as an example: The method is devious and it would be a miracle in the right hands, but it would only work if your audience was about 15 feet away from you and you were performing in a very, very dark environment. Certainly, there is a place for it, but only rarely. It simply is not something that works in the real world.

So, when considering Kennedy magic as a purchase, I strongly suggest that you give the above points their due.

Mike.

ill take it into consideration thanks for posting it.....

unlike most people on this site *cough cough * i dont buy stuff without researching it thoroughly and spending days checking out different things about it and similar products etc..

most people just buy instantly and are let down.... but i have done it before... i dont suffer from CUPS that badly...

xD

This doesn't look all that great. It just seems very gimmicky, and seems like even a layman would think that. What do I know though??

Looks pretty nice to me, and available in British 10p too which is handy. Sure it's expensive but with anything that involves small runs of precise engineering it's going to be, I nearly ordered one there and then but decided that I don't need it. It's a good thing I've got a hangover and therefore I'm being quite grumpy and sensible.

actuly we have very little imfo on this item, its not a shell and its not a flipper so it could be a scotch, a butter or even a pk coin.
we have no demo, no idea of the routines you can do with it, for all we know it could be a regular coin and a dvd of basic sleights.

i'd like to hear what effects this wonder coin can replace and an unbiased review from someone that actualy owns one before i'll be placing any order.

How can you tell? I can't really infer anything from the video... or do you know something about it that I don't?

I grok your point, Mike. I bought 'Jump' about 10 years ago (although I seem to remember that it was a more sensible price in those days) and, as you say, it was very hard to use in the real world. I was running a restaurant at the time so was able to set it up on a mantlepiece next to a particular table before service started, that table got a miracle once each evening! I got enough use out of it to consider it fair value for money but it was a pain to set up and wholly impractical under most other conditions.

I'm still curious to see what Supercoin is though...

adendum.................................................
just whatched the demo video and i have to say theres still not much info but it certainly looks like a versatile gimick, i'd be suprised if one of there statements isn't entirely fully acurate, based on the demo.

that video seems rather vague as to what you can achieve with the trick, but looks very interesting..... now i need a good review of it..... :D

Sorry to say this, but I can achieve the same effects with a 10p coin and a cheap Sanada. Even the 'coin thru hand', which to me is the most visually stunning.

However, the handling by Kennedy looks like it's much more than this...

Hurrah! Someone's found a potential use for a Sanada!

I can't tell exactly what the gimmick is, but from the demo, it just seemed like he was hiding something... I dont know, maybe he was just nervous... :?

Can I ask what exactly is a Sanada? If it a UK term or a common coinworkers term....I apologize for my lack of knowledge...it is just that I am trying to absorb as much as I can about coins and curiosity has gotten the best of me here!
