BIG BLUE GENII PUPPET.

Postby magicdiscoman » May 21st, '04, 22:43

i have recently aquired a big blue genii hand puppet from a friend and intend to incorporate it into my kids act, could anyone sugest any books they have come across or any tricks / routines that they feel would help me.

I have already adapted the puppet for a ditch and load as well as adding a tt device and have built him a house / production box.

many thanxs in advance.

Im in the same boat as MagicDiscoMan, but i have aquired a large hand puppet crow, who i have christened Duncan.
So far he knows how to eat chewing gum when he shouldnt be, and he can do a really good card trick!
As MagicDiscoMan said, is tere an suggestions for good books on stuff to do with puppets, e.g. magic tricks, gags etc

Cheers

P.S. its my birthday two weeks yesterday

We have a few puppet books at studio9, but as today is the last day of business before we hand over to the new owners I'm not sure how useful that is. I'll have a look and if there is anything interesting I'll have it set aside for you.

Right, we have a booklet on Bird routines for £8 and one on general animal routines, also for £8 and there was one on egg laying routines but I think it is targeted at one specific type of puppet called the 'flexi-fowl'. There is also one for religious use that's not aimed at birds necessarily. Unfortunately we are all out of the book of big blue genii routines, sorry.

If you are interested you will need to call Tricia sometime this afternoon or evening or before 10.30 tomorrow morning 'cos that's when it all gets loaded up.

I used to be quite heavily involved with puppets so if you need tips with anything don't hesitate to PM me.

Also because I used to use puppets I know most of the good puppet manufacturers/vendors but it's been a while so let me do a bit of research and i'll get back to you.

ok, i did a bit of quick research and refamiliarised myself with the puppet world.

For resources the best place to go is www.onewaystreet.com. Bear in mind that this is a Christian organisation but it is the best place for puppetry resources.

Also, as I'm sure you've already done, a quick search on www.google.co.uk will give you plenty of results. However, there is not that much out there for puppetry technique. It's almost a do it yourself arena. Again the best place to buy learning material is one way street.

If you want some basic tips and advise I'd be happy to help in any way I can. Just PM me with whatever you need to know.

Hope this helps,

Fish
