Complete DVDs - TT, Card, Coins, Cup and Balls etc

Postby belloz22 » Nov 11th, '07, 01:24

Hi everyone - i am hoping to expand my magic library, i am a keen collector of magic merchandise (spell ?)

I am looking to imcrease my collection by addding dvds that have complete teachings for each different item, i.e Cards = Royal Road..... Coins = Bobo's modern coin magic etc

I already own the Royal Road to Card Magic, and Bobo's Modern Coin Magic, i also have the card college books, and i have Greg Morelands Rubber Band dvd lol

I would like your recommendations for each of the following....

Sponge Balls: (I was thinking of Noblezada's dvd when it is realeased)

Cup and Balls: (Maybe Gazzo's Street cups or Eddy Ray's Complete Cup and Ball DvD)

TT: (Thinking of Darwins complete encyclopedia)

CD's Discs: any ideas lol

Mental Magic:

Metal Bending:

Finally general items - keys, pens, cans, toothpicks, etc

I would greatly appreciate your views on which you believe to be the best dvds/videos (or books if all else fails) on the subjects - sort of complete tuition on the area involved - and also your views on the ones i have suggested.

Many thanks all, looking forward to reading your replies

It's unlikely that you'll find a comprehensive list of one stop shop resources for all the little areas of magic, but you can certainly get a decent library together to cover the basics. The stuff you mentioned is a start and some of it is considered essential to any collection.

Funnily enough the World'd Greatest Magic series from L+L is probably your best port of call for a start in that they have a rapidly expanding array of dvds that feature sponge balls, gimmicked coins, etc. They're all compilations of footage from some legends of magic (with the odd miss) and they're well priced at about £15 each. Worth a look.

Try dvds like INSIDE MAGIC by Ellusionist

MAGIC ANYTIME ANYWHERE by Losander has a few TT effects

And there are a whole host of DVDs out there covering many of the aspects you have asked about however it is only in specialist areas that you will find devoted dvds normally. For instance there is only so far you can go with a TT and you find that books like 101 tricks with a TT only regurgitate the same trick over and over and this would be the case for a DVD but for more specialist areas there is a wealth of info.

Michael Ammar and his thread miracles

Banacheks PSI series

and so on.

Metal bending is a gimmick and can be learnt easily from PDF downloads.

Use the search feature and you will find loads of info :)

For metal bending there is a choice between the Banacheck psychokinetic silverware ( hope that's right  ) and liquid metal. I can recommend the latter as can a number of other members and it's reviewed on TM.

I can also recommend Darwins encyclopedia of TT magic that is also reviewed on TM

I'd give gazzo's street cups and balls a miss. I don't own it but have heard some not-too-good comments about it. There's a lot out there to choose from for cups and balls and I'd do a search using the button at the top. Personally, I use Carl Andrews table hopping cups and balls a lot.
