I just bought a TT and am wondering what size silks i should use with it? Either 6" or 12" i should think.

However would the 12" silks be more versatile for more tricks? Is it possible to cut them down a bit?

a 6 or 9" should be fine, but it's important to keep an eye on colours

I wouldn't cut the silk once you have it as is would just fray and look a mess when you where fineshed. Just the way silk is

More than anything it will depend on the size of your TT and what it can handle.......I have a smaller one that requires a 6 or 9 inch.....but have a large one that allows me to vanish a full 6 foot long silk streamer.....wouldn's suggest cutting them down unless you have a sewing machine that can treat the edges to avoid fraying

Use a 6" or 9" for close-up and a 12" for stage / cabaret. A 12" will fit in a standard size TT as long as the silk is of the right quality (ie. thin not thick)

Moodini's suggestion of a streamer is a nice way to apparently get more in the TT. Another option is a diamond cut silk (such as the ones Jay Scott Berry produces). They are sort of a halfway house between a square silk and a streamer.

I bought a 9" silk (9inch) from tam shepards today and that seems to work great.
also most size facial tissues (Hankeys to everyone else) work great.

Doesnt have to be a hankey I have vanished salt sugar and water just think outside the box.

I use a 9" silk with a large Vernet TT - works like a dream. I think anything bigger could be a bit tricky.
