Amazin, Such a perfectionist is derren brown.

My Media Teacher when to college with him, and when derren returned after the half-term holiday his face was all scared, and burned and people asked how, he said it was an accident with boiling water. it was like it for a week or so, then when he reutrned after the weekend all the acaring and marks were gone, it was make-up, a test to see how people reacted differently, to other people with some sort of 'dissability' or somthing that makes you stand out, such as the burned face. Derren must have studied a high level of psychology during his school years.and now he has this whole image that if he can make people do 'spooky' things, like fall to sleep, and because people know he has this image, psychologically, they are more willing to participate and 'fall asleep'

As regards to the trick, i have no idea, more than likely will be suggestion, and as for the wallet, could be some sort of index or somthing, thats not as impossible....

I don't know, any more suggestions?

This is one of my favorites. I usually think I know how he is doing his stuff, but this one I never really worked out. The recording cut's quite a number of times. but so far I did not manage to reconstruct the method (though the one-ahead principle almost certainly is involved).

Anyway, sometimes it just great to appreciate his mentalism. In style this effect is a bit like the mentalism I like to do. I think his presentation of this effect is absolutely brilliant!

I too noticed the cuts in camera, but Derren is far too professional for any "cheating" one would hope. At first I thought the stealth was at work but then watching it again I became more confused, so decided to stick with what I know I can win at and played snap with my 6yr old daughter !!!!!!

sometimes i wonder, Are Stooges involved?

The profesional image he has created makes you think 'no' but on the other hand, like any magician, you must lie. And so this makes me think that stooges could be in on it..

What dya rekon?

can you imagine how much someone such as he, who calims to use no stooges, would have to pay to shut them up?

Indeed, you;re right, it would be alot, but he's a millionaire, a dip in the ocean for him. Me on the otherhand, just a part time Magi, Part time Stock controller at halfords, am not as rich as him....:-)

I would like to get into his head, but then hed know im there, then get into my head, so he effectivly would then be in his own head....Im not sure where this is going, A very intelligent man, non the less.

Very rarely does an effect come along which frazzles my brain the way this one has. I hope he doesnt include stooges but I suppose its a very easy answer to a marvellous trick.

were always looking for a very complicated answer when theyre could always be a simple one.... (the prestige film and stuff) but then again it could be something complex when derrens involved... :D

I think I have an idea how it could be done. It uses a combination of
one ahead, an index as well as bit of dual reality. The extra kicker with the three card in the wallet have given me some headeggs, but I can kind of see how this could be achieved...

To be honest his method does not really interest me that much. I can kind of see how the effect could be achieved, but what matters for me is the overall effect that is just absolutely brilliant.

I reckon this is the 73rd time I've heard this one.

Two things I can guarantee: first, he never uses stooges (that's the whole point). Second, stooges will always come up in these conversations as a possible solution.
