My (ok) For Andruzzi Performance

Postby sleightlycrazy » Nov 20th, '07, 05:19

I'll admit, I was disappointed by how I did for the school talent show. I used For Andruzzi, and planned out a neat presentation, but my audience management was c*** (not the best), and I ended up seeming rude. I already know that I needed to call the second spectator up after stopping my own pulse. The lighting blinded me and none of the people who came up where the people I pointed at. I felt horrible having to sent spectators back to their seats, but I saw no alternative at the time.

Comments are appreciated.

You were in a difficult situation there. The audience was pretty rowdy, it seemed like people just ran up on the stage! I don't know what you could have done to be honest. Yeah I guess getting someone who can actually take a pulse is vital really, I suppose that's why various performers will ask for a nurse or doctor to take it. A lot of people cannot find a pulse, I know it sounds strange but I guess it's just not something people do a lot or at all. I didn't think you were that rude considering the disrespect the audience showed. Maybe if you had commanded more of their attention at the start, they might have shut up a bit. I've never done anything like this, so you should probably wait for an experienced stage performer to comment, but it was a good try and the effect worked well in the end.

Did you get any feedback from any audience members? I bet they liked it still.

I heard from a friend of mine that people were still talking about it in class a few days after. I also got in the school newspaper.

And yes, the people were randomly running up on stage. It still felt bad having to send them back, though...

I thought it was alright, but I wouldn't have called it an effect, it's more of a demonstration. I also wouldn't have told your spectator that the pulse was going to slow down before it did. You should have let them find out for themselves.

Well, it is an effect, and telling the spectator is a very important part of it.
Thanks for your thoughts. Demonstration sounds pretty good, I might use it from now on.
