Yeah but all democratic governments are incompetent. You just think this one is worse because you preferred the Tories.

The data lost was information about child benefits. So that's the information about every child and every parent of a child in the country, not people claiming dole

Why you should have benefits to have kids is beyond me. No great lose then , this should save the tax payer millions.

So, just a very random stab in the dark but I'm guessing neither of you do kid's party magic :D ?

The lost discs were password protected but the data wasn't encrypted - as mentioned earlier, an eight year old could probably hack into the discs with little effort. Of course the reactions are all over the top but if it helps prevent to dreadful idea of compulsory biometric ID cards at horrendous personal expense, then let's keep going OTT!

That's a good point made by Mandrake about ID cards and biometrics.

The public confidence regarding security of Government data now should make the ID card more difficult for the Government to get it through. Of course, their arrogance will mean that they will still steamroller public opinion.

Mandrake I dont even like my two younger step sisters. Then again if you met there no class mother and other siblings you would understand why the woman my dad got up the duff has a son ugly as sin. You know when some people actually look common?

Hmm mentalism for kids are you thinking of Bob the builder??

Lets face it if they say we are getting them cards then we are getting them cards.

I do not feel sorry for the bod or his manager or anyone in government.
The fact is they broke the law on data protection, they broke the law on not doing a proper risk assesment, they broke the law on not doing a dissaster assesment, and they get away with it every time.
Remember all the tax credits they paid and then made poor people pay back. Pensioners paying back £2000 etc. When I was eligable for tax credits I had to sign a bit of paper saying that I had checked and was paying the correct ammount (it's in the small print now) only I rang up and asked for the formula and they would not give it to me, this is illegal too. You cannot ask someone to sign something without giving the relevent information. I have been told that Brown was told it was unimplementable by the senior bods at the tax office and he said do it anyway.
I know people whose tax returns were always wrong. Always.
The tax office would threaten to send round balifs when I was on the computer as having paid. It was my resposibility to prove my inocence and pay the bank to write to them to prove the money left my account and went to them. The bank said ring again we get this ALL THE TIME. I did, got someone else, "ok sir I will check the computer, oh yes you paid months ago, forget the letter" This happened more than once.
This was at the same time that they had owed me aswell as thousands of other self employed hundreds of pounds for three years due an error in their system. So I pay and get threatend, they don't and I wait three years. Legally they should have paid in six months. I could have put a hold on their account untill they paid. Imagine that, the IR not being to do any finacial transaction untill the paid little old me. Only that law they bought in for everyone else don't apply to them.
They are useless, absolutely useless.
They have civil servents who know what they are doing and ignore their advice, then they give them an unimplementable task and blame them when it goes wrong.
How many computer programs commisioned by the gov don't do what they should or cost many times more than they should because they kept changing the specs rather than taking advice. The police have a network of computers that cannot even talk to each other.

Then I get told that not enough of us vote. Well sorry mr politician I'm either at work trying to earn enough to pay your taxes or on the phone trying to sort out your incompetance, I don't have time to vote.

PS. the local politician came round to our door and said
politician "hello I'm mr x from the y party"
The missis " hello I'm mrs o'connor, what is your main policy for this area"
politician " I'm going to ban all the big lorrys from the road the shops are on to make it safer for your kids"
The missis " really, is that a good policy to have?"
politician" well yes everybody is really behind it, I think there is enough local support to get it through, I have had a great responce on the doorstep"
The missis " thats not what I ment, a vast majority of this local area is employed by the industrial estates that feed of that road, so if you stop the lorrys how will they survive. The road being their only access and all?"
politician"but everybody says it's a good idea"
The missis " but it's not is it? It's a stupid idea"
politician"but everybody says it's a good idea"
The missis " but it's not is it? common sense says it can't be done"
politician"but everybody says it's a good idea"
we are both now laughing at him and he still did not get it.

I do love with Joe Bloggs comes round on the election tout. I love the way they blame the bloke before. One said to me once But that was in the day the council was in dual control I said you had 15 years to sort it. He said well i got a busy night ahead of me.

Its about time the Prime minster down to I sent the disc out and cant find them. Understand that they are civil servents I am there boss with out me you dont have a job.

I once saw people running around for some Jr minister calling him sir. I am sorry am I missing something here? He should be calling me sir. Its about time we the people stood up and was counted.

How many more blunders can we have. Data being lost? Health service in decline? Lawless streets. Its time to put Dini in charge I will show them what for.

We are told that ID cards will stop terrorism.

Remember that America has had them for years and also had one of the biggest terrorist attacks ever! It means nothing....
