Hi,

I would suggest that you find a local dealer who is prepared to buy in his products or search on the internet and buy direct from him in Japan.

It looks very much like the old bar trick of reversing a pyramid of coins with the addition of 2 fairly basic magic principles, m*****s and s****s :?

Tenko.

I think you were right with the first part, Tenko, but I am not sure that either of the other things you mentioned were used. It looked more like an ungimmicked Coin Matrix to me, but combined (rather cleverly) with the old pyramid puzzle.

Kellar, I suggest you get hold of a book or DVD that teaches the basic Coin Matrix. World's Greatest Magic has a DVD full of different versions called 'Matrix / Coin Assemblies'.

You'll also need to know the pyramid puzzle, and the video didn't give you all the information you need to solve it. The pyramid puzzle is figure 2 in this .pdf:

http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/cs/pdf/0204/0204002v1.pdf

If you read the article (it looks awfully complicated at first glance), it will tell you how to reach the solution, but why not just try it first? As a magician, you probably enjoy figuring things out and the answer isn't that hard. It might be easier to figure it out yourself without reading the rest of the .pdf!

This is an interesting puzzle! and interestingly, I didn't know there's people who do research and write papers on game theory :roll: I bet that job is so much fun, playing game everyday!

That paper does look complicated, i just had a quick look and gave up reading and understanding it... and just sat down, lay out the coins in front of me and think and try it out.

It took a while, and when i figured out how to do it, i wanna bang my head with a pot :P, as the paper said, you really can move the 10 coin pyramid upside down with just 3 moves! very simple.

Here the reference:
Pyramid size->Minimum moves required to make pyramid upside-down
3 coins -> 1 moves
6 coins -> 2 moves
10 coins -> 3 moves
15 coins -> 5 moves
21 coins -> 8 moves

Hint: clockwise or counter-clockwise, stick with one :P
