How amazing is this TalkMagic Member?!

Postby Rob » Apr 16th, '07, 19:54

Guys,

Really felt I should post this, in response to a truly amazing gesture made to me by a TalkMagic member (who shall remain nameless, to spare their blushes  )

A short time back, I posted a brief comment, about looking to buy an effect ("Holey Sh*t"), which I'd been trying to track down a second-hand copy of for quite some time.

Quite out-of-the-blue, and from a TalkMagic member not even involved in the thread I'd posted in, this person PM'd me, saying they had the effect and weren't in a position to use it.

Of course, I immediately batted a PM back, enquiring as to price - the response?

Nothing...Nada...Zilch...not interested in recouping their investment, so long as I felt I could get some mileage out of the effect - they wouldn't even accept anything towards postage!!!

I have to say, I was utterly gob-smacked (and not a little humbled  )

Of course, my profuse thanks went to this member...but I felt this act of amazing kindness - to a complete stranger, nonetheless - deserved some public recognition.

By way of passing on the kindness, I shall be looking to do something similar, the next time I see someone here discussing an effect which I have, but do not use :D

Some things just brighten your day - so a massive public thanks to the member involved!

Have fun all,

Rob

I'd love to mate - but at the moment that could be difficult, as I'm working full time, and caring for my recently-disabled wife when not at work, so I'm still trying to find my feet in respect of time off

Hopefully, at some point in the not-too-distant future, we'll be able to get together for a natter?

Have fun!

Rob

Some kind peeps on here  .

Not so long ago I made a request for some DB cards - http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic17052.php&highlight= I only needed about 4, so I didn't want to buy a whole deck - and even buying singles was quite expensive.

A member on here called Saxmad came to my rescue and didn't even want anything towards the postage. I know the cost wasn't much, but seeing how we are both total strangers, I was touched by his generosity  .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

from one carer to another it does get easier but you will find your social life severly crimped for a wile, if you need any advice or a chat contact me.

with regards free trading and offers this goes on more than people realise and is one of thoughs things that underpins this forum as one of the best, we don't give away comercial trick secrets but a lot of shall we say stage craft goes on behind the scenes.

Some of the advice and help I've received on here from members has been invaluable. Through PM's and emails, there are some great people on there who genuinely want to help other magicians and I appreciate the tips I have received from these people.

this thread makes me want to start a "Giving Thread", as i've taken part in in a couple of other forums. basically someone says they've got something they don't want anymore and then they just give it to someone on here who wants it.
i got a few nice things from those threads, bits of clothing and CDs mainly. could work out on here though

I like to think we're NOT total strangers here.
We have a common passion that makes us understand each other.

Just one big happy family!

There is a review of it here:

And according to magicmonkeys enthusiastic musings last weekend at the London meet then it surely is a cracker

Now now Joe, calm down lad. This isn't www.talkusedboots.perve you know. The fine figure of a man that is Greedoniz unloaded the entire contents of his sock drawer (except the socks) at the first few London meets. His benificence seems to have dried up now, perhaps after a particularly violent scrap between myself and Mark over a Mullica wallet. Eyes were lost. Also the rest of us are far too stingy to give anything away, we even get a receipt after every round in case someone's drink cost more than our own so we can claim back the difference.

The artist who does not rise, descends.
