Flashy video compilation

Postby Slyszer » Nov 5th, '07, 09:16

Hey Guys,

It's been a while but I'm back with a new short film :)
This short clip is meant to work as a promotional movie for the group of performers which I work with.

I do not mean to advertise or anything, just want to show you all the clip!
Please tell me what you think.

Thanks!

Looks good--cool music.

As a bit of constructive criticism (I don't know about you, but I'm always upset when all I get is empty "good job" comments), I'd consider using different footage. The lighting is poor and the backdrop is hardly professional. A little bit of location filming goes a long way.

A promo video shouldn't be about the things you can do. Instead, it should feature YOU, not the magic. You're selling yourself more than you're selling a collection of tricks. How can you stand out from the hordes of other magicians touting their wares? Why should they pick you over the next guy with a fire wallet.

Don't answer these questions here--answer them in the next promo you produce!

Hope this helps a bit.

Ciao,
Rob

Reaction shots are always good to put in promo videos.
Quick Question, What editing software did you use for your video?

I used Adobe After Effects for the visual magic logo, and some flashy effects. Then I used Adobe Premiere Pro to put it all together as one.

Very nice, but I agree with RobLaughter's comments.

Magic is slight of mind!

I presume you are seeking comments ....

1. First thing that hit me was it looked like a number of different people made the vid. Different clothing and hairstyles.

2. Lighting was poor.

3. Some of the clips were too short for the public to take in what was happening.
