Magic stars

Postby Flyinbrian » Dec 3rd, '07, 11:23

Don't know if there's already an effect like this somewhere but I done some magic recently that gave the best reaction i've ever ever ever had.
I was at a party and was asked to do some tricks (we've all been there). I done a few card tricks and vanishes to everyones amusement then led everyone outside into the garden.

I lit a match, made it dissapear whilst giving some patter about fire being the soul of angels and threw my arms up in the air. Right on cue a small light made it's way across the sky for a about a minute before dissappearing. It was too slow to be a shooting star and obviously wasn't an aeroplane.

Some people I'm sure didn't actually see the light because they were looking in the wrong place but everyone who did see it was totally amazed and kind of made those who missed it think they'd seen it as everyone in a state of sheer disbelief.

The idea is dead simple but takes some practice. That was the last effect I did on the night. I'm still smiling thinking about it.

If I'm getting the right end of your stick Flyinbrian, and I think I am, then that is indeed a very original trick.

I've certainly never heard of it before.

Hmmm... There's not a much psychology here as you think Marvo.
The flash of light was genuinely visible. Are you thinking what I think you're thinking?

I don't want to expose, or even hint, but what I am thinking is not psychology but a simple application of a slightly different school lab science.
And a quite impressionable audience.

Hmm. It's got me thinking. This could have uses, though I'm very possibly wrong.

Interesting. I think your method may be different to mine. Don't want to give too much away just yet though.

Siege, this is FAR better (in my opinion) than cloudbusters.

Don't get me wrong, I hadn't assumed the *method* to be the same as cloudbusters.

In fact, the effect you speak of is readily replicable with items costing around £5, although the preparation is a little long-winded.

I am imagining my method and yours are not dissimilar—and are far from psychological.

:D

I've just looked this up. I didn't even know what this was. The only prop I had was a TT and a little knowledge. Looks like This Steve Fearson guy has beat me to it though.
