Chaps, are you a Firefox user who tires of re-visiting your favourite forums only to discover that there's no new content? Try the Page Update Checker from the Mozilla add-ons web site.

Go to the page you want to monitor, right click and select "Monitor for Updates". When the page changes, you'll receive a pop-up. To stop monitoring, simply remove the page from the monitoring list the plug-in maintains.

Job's a good 'un.

Hehe,

Site owners who pay for additional bandwidth wont like this :-D I wonder how regularly it hits the site to see whats going on.

Its a neat enough idea I guess, I just wonder if it can be done more efficiently with RSS or some type of Adobe AIR application.

I agree that its anoying when you do the morning trawl of favourite forums and find nothing new has been written, I find I get that a fair amount with some of the Linux communities I subscribe too.

Thanks for the tip Tomo.

Rob

No problem. I think it's probably most useful with low traffic sites. Just poll them every hour or so to save you a job.
