Ali Bongo Lecture

Postby Magical_Trevor » Dec 7th, '07, 00:42

Hey Everyone,

In a recent post by myself, I said about joining the Sussex Magic Circle. I went along tonight (just got back) and they had a guest speaker - in the form of Ali Bongo :-O

It was an amazing lecture, where he told many stories about his initial introduction to magic, how it all started etc as well as how he comes up with some of his ideas about tricks. He explained several of his favourite trick routines, and gave REALLY helpful adivce with all things magical.

PLUS, after the show, he was just chatting away to us all, totally unaware of how much of an icon he was to everyone in the room this evening - also, the guys at the club were amazing, everyone chated to me, asked who I was, what I did etc and I even got a ride home (so I didnt have to get the train).

In summary, I would highly reccomend club meetings, I had never been before, but thouroughly enjoyed myself and am highly anticipating the next meeting, even though its not until January 10th :D

Trevor,

Last week I bought a kit to transfer video to DVD. Today I spent most of the day converting old TV video from the 1990's to DVD. I came across an old version of Ali doing the 'Shreick of Araby' or something similar to that name. Its excellent stuff.

You are extremely fortunate to have been to a lecture by Ali Bongo. I have never met him but I would take two trains and a dozen buses to see a lecture by him. He is truely an amazing gentleman.

A legend of British magic. Must have been a fascinating lecture. Someone who has been involved with magic as long as he has must have so many great stories to tell.

That would be such an amazing experiance. I walked into Davenports and met a peculiar gentlemen who was was very wise. When he left the man at the counter almost jumped for joy at meeting this man. I can't remember who it was but i do know i've been in his presence!
