Hows about...
Jamie Cullum - Mind Trick
Queens of the Stone Age - Do it again
Biffy Clyro - Some Kind Of Wizard
and for some people: Queens of the Stone Age - The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret.

There must be more!

Let us not forget "Do You Believe in Magic" and "Strange Magic." My friend Terry Evanswood plays quick clips from a ton of magic songs before his show opens. It's very nicely done.

I had a hunch that if I looked in the archives, I'd find a thread or two about music with a magic theme. So here I am.

But you missed one!!!

In fact, you missed a particularly brilliant one. I speak of In Your Eyes by Oysterband, which is actually one of my very favourite love songs in its own right. The lyrics are superb, and the music starts off well but becomes a tad too noisy for my taste at the climax.

The things that the singer sees in his girlfriend's eyes are most intriguing. I've met very few women whose eyes quite meet that description...

It can be listened to (in Real Media) here and you can read the lyrics here.

Excerpt:
Wonder what the spark is when you turn your eyes on me?
Some kind of magic and it will not let me be.
Rip goes reality, walls are falling down
Snap goes the iron chain that tied me to the ground.

Incidentally, I improvise on keyboard, and maybe (just maybe) I could create a backing track for someone's magic video sometime. You can go here to get some idea of my style, which is folky. However, I lack the equipment to make a professional-quality recording.

another very interesting singer songwriter (in the same mold as that Damien Rice fellow, but did it before him and better) is Tom McRae. There are several songs of his that have single lines in them relating to magic, cards and misdirection (How The West Was Won on All Maps Welcome for example) but specifically, his latest album, released this year, is called King of Cards, and has the following songs on it:

- King of Cards
- Houdini And The Girl

Absolutely fantastic singer, all four albums are brilliant, and I'd highly recommend you check him out. The most recent album is the most accessible.
