Probably many before me encountered this problem before me.
Classic palming my old pennies coins I draw on my palm some nice copper green circles that my girlfriend doesn't appreciate...
Do you know some way to avoid this? A way to clean them?

if they're normal 2pence pieces or old pennies, then leave 'em in a big dollop of H.P. sauce overnight..rinse and clean next day, bright spangling new...

I prefer ketchup or lemon juice, soak for 20 minutes followed by a scrub and repeat works quite well. On the other hand I've just discovered Half Dollars which are far superior to any coins we brits use.

Could also try immersing in Coca Cola overnight

Half dollars are the way to go my friend!
Other than that any acidic liquid will work quite well.
