The New Adobe.com

I'm sure many of you wont find this post very interesting, but I'm sure some of the designery (is that a real word?) types on here will have already noticed the new look Adobe.com.

I know that its been somewhat of a controversial new change for them, seems that everyone I've discussed it with so far hates it with a passion, I on the other hand love it! Its a change which has been needed ever since Adobe and Macromedia merged, I think it illustrates a new leaf for the company and is the first of many new and exciting things to come from what is now one of the most creative and powerfull software producers on the market!

What do you all think?

ONE of the most powerful software creators?

Jees Rob, where ya bin?

Adobe's strength lies in the fact that designers and real-world workers—not geeks so much—are responsible for the software development.

The new design is no surprise after the minimalist contemporary style of the new CS3 suite.

Now... all you lovely (parastites) people who steal Adobe software... spare a thought for the developers who slog long and hard to create the tools which allow art, graphics, video and internet to be all around you.

And yes, the new site is nice, but it's far too 'glitzy' for me. I've been an Adobe customer since the early 90s, and I've always been happy with their minimal approach.

I guess they're just moving with the times.

Well, yes, I deem myself to be THE most creative and powerfull software developer in the world ;-) ... Adobe comes a close second place though *pats adobe on the back patronisingly. :-D

It is quite glitsy you're right, but its not as 'glam' as the Microsoft site, which is definatly a good thing. I've not had the privialage to play with CS3 properly yet but I'm sure its an incredible piece of software.

Unfortunatly I think that untill all software becomes web based (wont be long now) we're never going to be able to stop piracy, if you're distributing software on disk or download then it'll be copied in the blink of an eye no matter what you do about it, its very sad, but its the same with movies, untill we're all working with streaming media piracy is inevitable.

Interestingly enough though, I was reading that Adobe are about to release a very large segment of thier software as open source which will extend that 'real-world workers' concept that you were talking about, enabling the products to grow to meet the requirements of the users much quicker, very exciting!

Thermo is 'cool', but it goes against the grain a bit in that it will go a step further into convincing developers/coders that they're 'designers'.

But yeah, it does look sexy :D

I like the new look.

Unfortunately, my student copy of CS3 remains largely untouched, as i deferred from my course, and will now wait a year to get into the designer mindset once again.

*sigh*.

It's nice, it's clean and it does the job. A thumbs up from me, which I'm sure they'll all be over the moon about.
